Chris Engstrand is John Hardin's new football coach.

Coach Engstrand is taking over a great program that's in a really nice place right now. Good luck to Chris and the Bulldogs!

Can anyone give us some background on the new coach! Best of luck to him - by the way!

I'm not sure what he was up to in 2015, but here's what I know...

'05 Western Hills - Head Coach

'06-'09 Henry County - Head Coach

'10 North Hardin - Assistant Coach

'11-'12 Fairdale - Head Coach

'13-'14 Green County - Head Coach

'16 Ballard - Assistant Coach

Chris was the the Defensive Coordinator at Nelson County in 2015. Best of luck to Coach Engstrand and the Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coach Engstrand came over from Ballard in January to John Hardin when he was hired as the new offensive coordinator for John (when former OC and father of HC Chad Lewis; Mike Lewis retired after 40 years of coaching in the state) as well as taking a teaching position in the building.

Thanks for the additional and best of luck and congrats to Coach Engstrand.

Don't want to start the wing T conversation; but does anyone know what kind of offense Ballard ran under Coach Engstrand

According to the article in the News Enterprise they are still going to run the wing T with some variations. Coach Engstrand had already been implementing it during spring ball.

For anyone interested, as the HC:

'05 Western Hills - Head Coach 5-5 (3-7 before he came)

*Went 3-7 after he left

'06-'09 Henry County - Head Coach

'06 3-7 (6-5 before he arrived)

'07 9-4

'08 6-5

'09 10-3

*Went 7-4 after he left

'11-'12 Fairdale - Head Coach

'11 2-8 (8-4 before he came)

'12 3-8

* Went winless the year after he left

'13-'14 Green County - Head Coach

'13 5-6 (went 6-5 before he came)

'14 2-9

*Went 4-7 the year after

My initial response?

Not sure LOL

What he did at Henry County was very, very impressive and I am not sure what prompted the end of his tenure. His Head Coaching resume elsewhere has been up and down. Not exactly an easy gig at any of the jobs he took.

John Hardin has advantages and challenges he hasn't seen at any of those places.

Probably safe to say this will be one of those deals where it may be unfair to pass judgement until we let it play out.

Interestingly Ballards qb threw for 3000 and 30 td's last season.
