Coach Donahue resigned this morning.

I am not sure any region of KY has higher coaching turnover than that SEKY area

 

Seems like almost every school has changed Head Coaches in the past 5 or 6 years now

Any word on a reason why JB would be leaving his alma mater? He seemed to have the team moving in a great direction over the course of the last two seasons. Went from 2-9 ('13) and 5-6 ('14) to 9-3 ('15) and 7-4 ('16).

He spent 28 years on the Harlan football staff, 24 as a head coach. Also served as the AD

So is the assumption that he is retiring from coaching then?

It's everywhere. More getting out than getting into it, too....I would hope we'd see it dip below 40 this year for the first time in some 6-7 years, but I don't think we will & even if we do...it will continue to pick back up.

 

Not to get off subject, but some friends and I were talking the other day are near retirement age, but of our combined 40 years of teaching and coaching since 2005 at nine different schools...we could only come up with TWO former players that have since gone into teaching/coaching in general (and, one of those USE to coach baseball...doesn't anymore...so, only ONE teacher/football coach).

Coach Donahue has done a great job there. When Stephanie's aunt lived in Loyall, I would sneak over to watch a workout or practice. As to why he is hanging it up, it is tough to stay some where for such a long time and especially in your hometown. My guess is that he just thought it was time for a change... for him and the school. Good luck to both!

Does he have connections? I know Sizemore is a common mountain name and Bracken has played Harlan the last two seasons.
