Cumberland County (Burkesville/South Central KY/TN Line/Dale Hollow Lake) is another one that has had talks about it before and has had some interest. As a matter of fact, they have (or did have) a little league at one point despite not having a high school program.

I really haven't heard much about that coming from Livingston County, but I do know that Lyon County has lost some kids to Caldwell and Trigg over the years (Caldwell in particular). They might not have transferred while in high school, but they did before hand. I can try and find out some specifics.

Great post @JimSchue I really hope Livingston Central is able to pull the trigger on this for the reasons you said above and other. I'd also like to see it potentially lead to other programs down that way doing the same thing...like Lyon County. Talk about a tax base from property...they have it as much as anybody down in the LBL area.

They did! The smurf turf was in full effect this year.

They'll fit right in with a boat load of other programs throughout our state that have been playing for years then. If they could stay 1A (which it looks like they will be right on the fence) on a consistent basis, then they could build something...2A though will obviously be tough.

As I heard a former; very successful coach in our state once say about multiple schools in a district. "Everybody gets the same roll of toilet paper." In terms of facilities. Sometime's that's a good thing (Fayette County and now Warren County schools all getting turfed in the next 2-3 years) sometimes that's a bad thing (most all Jefferson County schools).

They had 18 kids at Central Hardin for the 1st round playoff game.

I dare say he won't be doing a thing there either, as in nothing all day outside of maybe being in the weight room. Coordinators in that part of the country make in upwards of 12-15K or more as their daily wage goes up in correspondence with the amount of extended days they have. I personally am good friends with a guy down that way who is in the weight room all day and makes in the above neighborhood for coaching & Camden County is a step up from his program. It's hard to imagine how it is down in GA unless either being there or knowing people that are, but it just is. Not to mention that Camden County is literally on a national level. It's the epitome of "big time."

I don't think he's saying that at all. As a matter of fact, I know he isn't. It's no secret the hurdles that are 6A..that's all...at least that's how I took it. Timing is everything. If you have the best group of kids to ever come through that school and you are matched up with like schools (i.e: District 2 as your region) then you have a legit shot to win a region title. If not? Well, we all know how that ends, and that ceiling 99.9% of the time is the 2nd round at best.

I heard earlier from a friend/source who coaches at school near Camden that Coach Sphire will be making around 150K to lead the Wildcats.

1) He's a sophomore. 2) He's a player. I've heard about him since he was an 8th grader at Union from former coaches/current coaches who also happened to have great careers as players in college as well. I judge their recognition of talent. 3) His time and more will come. He's on the map. Best of luck young man.

It's not just in that district. Fact is, the vast majority of programs know their 2017 ceiling/fate right now.

I don't know Coach Lucas, but I've never really been one that worries about the age thing & not really sure why much is made out of it to be honest. In college and the NFL (both are levels that are much more demanding needless to say); many of the greats are in their 60's-70's. I don't need to list them all, we all know who they are (Nick Saban, Rick Pitino, Bill Snyder, Tom Coughlin, etc just to name a few). To go a step further; many of these guys not only coach well into their 60's-70's w/ success, but they often times don't hit their prime until somewhere in their 50's. And, I get it...the real issue is that with those guys is a huge financial incentive to keep coaching; whereas if you are that age and coaching HS football, then you are mainly just doing it as pure hobby and can walk away from it at anytime. But, I don't think this age thing in terms of losing coaching ability is all that we make it out...as a matter of fact, I think it's probably the exact opposite...especially IF they are allowed/able to put together a solid staff of younger-go getters who are humble enough to put their egos aside and learn from somebody who has likely forgotten more football than they have learned up to their point(s).

I know he wasn't in Lexington; raced at Keeneland, so I guess that counts? Plus the fact that he's a male, so that throws it out the window...but, I'd be changing their colors to Crimson and go w/ "Big Red" after Secretariat. He retired in Paris at Calumet, right? If I'm Bourbon County; I'm changing to it then if FDHS doesn't.

Preach. Wait, you mean follow along the lines of what the NFL and college does in terms of 'round abouts' start dates for practice and games? What a novel idea.

I'd agree with this except for one thing; to hell with playing on Thanksgiving. It's been the first weekend of December for almost the last 30 years, and one of those years was the 2nd week of December (2007). If anything, back up the start date one week. I'm all for hot weather; as a matter of fact..I ride around without the AC most all of the summer in my truck, but playing more than half of the regular season before October 1st never has, nor ever will seem right.

While this is all very true; plenty of coaches (young and old) get out when they can and move onto the next phase. That phase is sometimes coaching at another school, sometimes complete retirement and sometimes it's staying in the classroom and/or sticking with other roles. If he got out because he saw the talent about to drop; then I don't think @sportsfan08 is necessarily blaming him, but calling it what it is/might be (maybe it's not) all WHILE not faulting him for doing so. If it is indeed the case as to why he got out; I sure as hell am not faulting him. He paid his dues. Did his time and did it arguably better than anybody ever has. But, there are plenty of good/great coaches who move on when the going isn't about to be as good as it's been. Always has been. Always will be.

Best of luck to him! Hopefully the school with its admin (3 AD's and 3 principals in as many years) can sustain some stability that might also lead to the same with this post. Oldham has a ton of young kids and the new schedule for the next couple years seems very,very favorable for some success (not a knock; part of it.) When you're not very good, play as many people as you can at your level or below. People talk culture and all these other facets all they want, and THOSE are VERY important...but, you better take the field against people you know you can play with, and more importantly beat. I'm sure Shatzer was doing a great job of building a culture outside of Friday nights in his own right. But, scheduling people that are on your level; hopefully leading to wins will take care of that more than anything.

I'll try to find the exact stats for Devonta Guillory from John Hardin who was the 1st team punter (arguably could have also been 1st team kicker as well), but I have something better. As the saying goes; "The eye in the sky doesn't lie." This is a highlight that's probably 80-90% just 2016 alone, and only from about half the season. The second clip is a punt from Meade County that it looks like he hasn't put into his complete highlight yet. @TackleTrap as well as some others who saw him in person......the kid is something special to say the least. The 2nd from Meade County (the definition of a flip the field punt), and the 3rd is his 2015-2016 highlight that is the majority of just this season...and, only half of it at that.
