Warren East 2017

Featured Replies

What does Warren East need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

The Raiders lose stud QB Chauncey Greer, but they seemed to played MUCH better at the end of last season than the beginning. Not totally sure how many starters return, but think it will be a difficult season. Although South Warren moved out of their district so they have a chance to play for a decent playoff seed.

The Raiders have a enthusiastic and dedicated coaching staff the team would follow through a brick wall. They have some impressive athletes but it will take some time to develop what they need up front.

The facilities at Warren East (and Warren Central) are AMAZING. A big thing that must happen is WE kids have to stay at WE. That has, at times, been an issue.

I know they put down blue turf but there was a delay. Did they actually play home games last season? The new facilities will hopefully help keep East kids at East.

They did! The smurf turf was in full effect this year.

The FS WE game was on the Blue this year. It's rather stunning when you first see it.

I was in Bowling Green last summer and road by to see the progress. The day I was there, I'd say the field was 85% finished, although there was still a good bit of facilities/landscape work that needed to be done. It really was stunning. Cool situation for them.

You should see it now. And Warren Central also.

This should be East year to win the district. Lots of athletes on the field and several good lineman returning.

It will be a competitive district.

Ambitious. I could see a home playoff game being a realistic goal. Let's not forget that they don't have a single player who has ever thrown a pass at the varsity level. Greer was a godsend for them last year, but that was a one year deal. Passing was 55% of their offensive output. They will have to find someone to step into those shoes. In Satterfield they also lost their leading receiver. Those two were a huge advantage for them, as they were often the two best athletes on the field. That is not easily replaced. Franklin-Simpson lost more seniors, but they're coming down from a better spot. East is really still building. They'll remain ahead of Warren Central, and I think they'll battle with AC/S for that 2 spot. I think they're still a little bit away from catching back up with Franklin. One win in their last nine meetings with them - it's not an easy task.

FS will depend on how the boys up front develop. There isn't a Cole Kirby in the mix but there are some guys that can make up a pretty good OL.

This will be Coach Preston's sixth year at the helm. The guys in the program have been running the Wing T from the time they strapped on the pads. That continuity is a key factor.

I don't think it can be quantified how difficult the situation has been at East the last few years. Not having facilities and dealing with constant upheaval makes it difficult for a program to maintain and grow. I anticipate the Raiders will be improved by default considering there will be now be consistency of routine and stability in and around the program.
