I heard from a very good source last night that they both are progressing in their rehab ahead of schedule. Possible return by middle of January.

Most fans didn't know that Reese fractured his left hand on the second play of the Belfry game while making a tackle. This was the same hand that he fractured earlier. His hand was really swollen last night in the Corbin game. Was barely able to get a glove over it. The team knew but did a good job not letting the word get out. Talk about really laying it on the line for the team. He is one tough kid.

i see,based on your comments, why you and your crew are not working the playoffs. It is clearly interference and the reason it appears that Smith was coming back to an under thrown ball, is because he was hit early, pushing him away from the path of ball. It happened right in front of me and the official was right on top of the play. I really question your ability and integrity as an official based on your reasoning,comments and self promotion. I would really like to know where you are from and the region you work games in. This clearly shows that all officials are not on the same page as far as the rules go. All the clinics , books and fees in the world won't help an inept official that doesn't go by the rules. It is just like trying to improve your golf swing by buying better clubs and balls.

Your point about the defense is well taken. Another thing that has been somewhat overlooked is Will McDaniel's three fumble recoveries. Not only that, but Will a sophomore, made several key tackles as he has all year.

It was the correct call. It happened right in front of me. The official did not hesitate. He had a better look than anyone . The defender had his hand in the receivers back, then tipped the ball. You play by the rules and live by the officials decision. Belfry had every advantage you could ask for and still Boyle just was the tougher team. Playing away and then coming off a four hour bus ride. Turnovers did play a big part in the game, but the defense played a big part in them. Boyle made some big hits to jar the ball loose and Reese Smith made a big time interception. Don't forget that Boyle had an unforced fumble with a bad exchange between Lanter and Crawford. Remember that Boyle just ran out the clock on that last drive rather than score again. Don't use the injury excuse either. The Rebels had three star quality athletes on the sidelines now out for the season, all being starters.

Boyle teams in the past have traveled long distances without showing any carryover effect. To Paducah Tilghman and Hopkinsville a couple of times for example. They will break the trip up with a pregame meal. Chuck has this figured out.It is just time to play football and get the negatives out of the kids mind.

Reese Smith, in Boyle's win over Lawrence Co had 6 receptions for 205 yds and 4 TDs.

Look for the defense to play more like we expect from this team. Injuries have caused the D to be more out of sync up to now. Other than Landen most of the players should be in the positions where they will be down the stretch for the playoffs. The offense will also be way too much for FC without having to show more than the basics. The Rebels by as much as Chuck wants.

Boyle averaged over 5 yds per carry on 26 attempts in running the ball, with 2 of those runs being TD's. They were 18 of 19 in passing attempts. I am sure that you are aware that short passes are basically the same as running the ball. They had around 450 yds of offense. What point am I missing?

Mercer coming off a bye week came into the game well prepared and fired up as anyone playing the #1 team in your class should be. Boyle might have been a little flat and the Titans took it to them early. By the middle to late first quarter Boyle just took over and dominated the rest of the game. Had a running clock before the 3rd quarter ended and let the JV,s basically run out the clock while playing all of the 4th quarter. I think Mercer had negative yardage from the last part of second quarter on. Saying that, I think Mercer has some good players, is well coached and can win a couple of games in the playoffs. Boyle still has some people banged up, but should have 2 weeks to do some healing and get players back for the tougher games in the playoffs. Good luck to both teams.

The 7:00 start time is correct. This Thurs. game may help Mercer because last week was a bye week for them. This gave them most of two weeks to prepare for the Rebels, while Boyle has a short week to get ready for the Titans. A good move for the game in good weather, the fans and tomorrow night will be senior night as well. Should be a great crowd for the game.

Boyle wins big, but will give the JV's as much time as the score will allow. Some of the kids are still in the healing mode. Having as many people as healthy as possible is so important in the playoffs. Having said that, I think the first game will allow the Rebels to give their starters plenty of rest. I think we will play Western Hills in the second game. I look forward to that rematch.

Reese also caught a pass for a very important two point conversion. He did this while playing with a rather bulky cast on his hand. He had a surgical procedure earlier in the day to remove the wire from his broken hand. He made several tackles and broke up several passes. Talking about the star of the game, who else would you even consider. No it wasn't Boyle at their best, but they still won by 3 TD's. The game is 4 quarters long, so teams looking for moral victories after being tied for three quarters are still losers on the score board. We will probably see them again somewhere in the playoffs. Hopefully we won't have to endure some of the circumstances that we had in this game. By the way this was probably Western Hills best game they have played in years.

I would also add Ned Stephens #67 to that list. He has been a steady performer the last two years on the offensive line and has been more valuable than sometimes given credit. At 6'1" 250 could also play somewhere at the next level.

Truly a mismatch as far as the two teams are concerned, but a great opportunity to watch some great high school talent. There will be several college coaches in the stands. There are other players at Boyle now creating interest among the scouts in addition to Landen, Reese and Wilson Kelly. Of course everyone will have their eyes on Wandale on every play. Hope the weather cooperates. I also think that the offensive line deserves a shout out for the job they did at Lex Cath and also Reed Lanter had a very good game that might have been overlooked. Boyle should win handily.

Don't forget Hatter. He changes any team's offensive scheme with his quickness, size and aggressiveness.

Boyle actually had seven starters out, including one after the first series plus two others lost earlier in the season. The good thing is that most of these will be back for next weeks game against Lex Cath. Not many teams can play as well as the Rebels did nine players down. This tells a lot about their depth and ability of the younger players. After the first quarter it was complete domination by the Rebels. Sometimes adversity can be a blessing in disguise, with these really young players stepping up the way they did, especially in a long season and the playoffs.

You have to add Jackson Smith of Boyle County, kicker and punter who will be a division one selection his senior year. You can also list Zach Mason a 250 lb 6' 2" offensive and defensive lineman. They have freshman QB Cole Lanter backup to his brother the varsity QB that can play with any one at this level. These kids have already performed at the varsity level this year quite well.

Dudley is one of the state's all time winning coaches for a reason, he gets the most out of what he has. A real interesting game in two weeks between Bell and Corbin. I thought Bell was very impressive in completely dominating a good Casey team. A young team that appears to be peaking at the right time.

Reese could be back for the Garrard Co game and should be back for sure against Lexington Catholic. He has a high tolerance for pain. He scored 20 pts. in a basketball game last year after breaking a finger in the first quarter.
