When it is all said and done it came down to three things:

1. Turnovers- Belfry had the Rebels on their heels and controlled most of the First Half, but 5 turnovers by the Pirates directly turned this game around. Like all great teams do, Boyle made Belfry pay nearly every time the Pirates coughed it up.

2. Field Position- Thanks in large part to turnovers above, as well as Belfry's lack of kicking game, the Rebels consistently were set-up in premium Field Position and often times cashed that in. The Boyle Offense is loaded and even though Belfry had some defensive stands, the Rebels made adjustments and put points on the board.

3. Reese Smith is a complete stud- 6 catches, 138 yards, 4 TD, and a key Interception on Defense. Smith took the game over and just flexed his muscles why he is one of the best players in the Commonwealth regardless of class.

I loved the adjustments Boyle's staff made. The stayed patient on Defense and stuck to their gameplan even though Belfry maintained success all night, it resulted in a pair of stops late to seal the game. The Boyle Offense stuck to what worked even with Bartleson far from 100%, they started taking shots down field in the 2nd Half and Belfry couldn't stop them.

Valiant effort by Belfry. Idsaac Dixon showed why he is a special Sophomore. Boyle didn't have an answer for him until he left the game with an injury in the 4th. Ben Bentley with a gutsy effort including a 92-yard Kickoff Return playing with a bad ankle sprain.

Hats off to a truly great Boyle team and a legendary Coach. Even tough Belfry had a shot to make this a much different game had they held on to the ball, there is no doubt in my mind Boyle was the better all-around team.

Sounds like it was a great one. Belfry hurt themselves a lot and the Rebels Reese Smith was a stud.

Go Rebs! Thanks to @Wireman and BGP for the updates!

No problem! I ended up having to work until 4 pm today so I couldn't make it to the game. I figured I would listen and do some updates. Go Rebels!

Thanks Wireman.

Why didnt Belfry double team Reese? They left #3 on him man to man and that was a terrible mistake.

When we get down to it, give me Tanner Crawford in the backfield for Boyle County. He's often an unsung hero for the Rebels but he's the guy who can carry the ball 20+ times, find the holes and hold on to the ball.

Belfry will give Safety help, but I honestly cannot recall a single time I have ever seen Belfry do a true double team on a receiver.

Whether by genius or by error, Haywood is not going to lose a game by playing anything other than his base Defense.

Let's also be honest here... even if Belfry did double I am not sure it makes a big difference. On some of those plays Reese would have made the catch regardless who was on him, he is just that darn good. Double teaming him would have opened up the run game or guys like Colewick even more.

I've been saying that all year. Kid is a player.

Reese Smith. Thats all.

For sure, with out him Boyle would not be nowhere close to the team they are.
