Gutsy win for the Red Colonels tonight with several players battling the flu and questionable for tonight's game. Coach Chev pulled the right lever going to the 2-3 and 3-2 zones in the fourth....allowed Dixie to control the boards off the missed shots. Still too many turnovers for Dixie.....they need to take care of the ball better heading into post season. CovCath shot well from the perimeter the first 3 quarters...not sure how many 3's they had but it had to be one of their higher outputs from behind the arc this year. The Heights was packed.....great atmosphere for a night of b-ball.

Hopefully Pike will be able to stay on the floor in this one...I'm thinking he didn't play much first game.

The game was a Saturday night game for the record and if you're portraying that CCH wasn't trying to win....I think you're sadly mistaken. Thelen seems to have a field day every game....that doesn't seem to be a problem.

You certainly have to look at who the wins were against.

They pushed the lead out to 20 or 22 and I think they prematurely put this one in the win column. You have to stay focused for 32 minutes.

Hardin was there from the Enquirer so there should be a box online later tonight or in the morning.

Not exactly accurate. Dixie had a number of errant passes and balls going through the hands of their players that had nothing to do with a defender. Slipping on a wet floor also caused a couple. Holy Cross played nice D but I wouldn't credit them with all of the to's like you're portraying.

How did you arrive at this? While he will be one of the top hitters, he doesn't wear the crown of the best hittter in the region. Hempel had a much higher batting ave. and Sexton was ahead of him in just about every category.

This indeed will be one of the top match-ups of the season. ...speed vs size. Does Boone have the ball handlers to handle the Holmes pressure? Can the Dogs shoot over the Boone zone? Should be interesting to see how this one shakes out.

I don't see this game reported to the KHSAA, but I think the final was actually 70-61. Dixie shot well, rebounded well, but had way too many turnovers ( ..a few maybe due to the humidity in the gym) I thought the Indians played a pretty solid game...had some nice runs and converted well off of turnovers....Dixie couldn't put them away when they held leads in double digits. The Colonels pick up win 20 and head back home for a Monday game against Ryle after a month of road games.

Are the floor conditions always like they were tonight at HC, or was this an isolated bad night? Players were slipping all over the place.

That's one way to look at it....or Dixie may have won by 20 had they not turned the ball over.

I agree....that was a big part of their success. If they meet again, I hope Pike can stay on the floor. Stansberry rolling his ankle in the 2nd qtr didn't help things either...he was noticeably hobbling in the 4th qtr. The Dogs certainly play above the rim and had many nice tips and dunks.
