  1. TAC...............ok so you are saying a beechwood does not deserve to play the best teams in 1A in the state if they are the best in the NKAC III? Revenue sharing takes place in the 10th region and works very well. The 9th does not to my knowledge have that in place. I know that NCC and Highlands proposed that the district split the regional money shares in exchange for a vote to seed. That was shot down by the other three in the district.
  2. Ok I guess we have to go through the All A again for those that do not understand it. First it was not started by the state. It is an independent tournament. Second it accomodates many AA schools as well based on the enrollment policies for the tourney. Third it is in the middle of the season and is not recognized by the state as ANYTHING. The state tourney is a great tournament but.............do not call for "seeding all districts" when you are going to not classify. That is all I am saying.
  3. Are they allowing athletes to play baseball and run track...........or is this going to be a "choose one"scenario. If so ..........what impact is this going to have on baseball?
  4. Yes the middle school leagues have been successful in starting feeder programs specific to that school. NCC is a good example. NKYFL teams (even those in small areas like Bellevue and Dayton) feed many schools. In fact for a school like Bellevue their senior team skill players many times (particularly at QB over the past several years) are being developed and they are going to other schools. The middle school programs give each school a chance to develop their players in a fashion that they want.
  5. Wow!!!!!!!!! This is exactly what I was thinking except you said it so much better. The current teams are being raided by the middle school league and why would any high school use NKYFL as a feeder system when the middle school leagues have been shown to be successful. It was not that long ago that Bracken County petitioned to be in the NKYFL and went to a meeting and were told "thanks but no thanks." This was back when Bracken was working on how to structure a youth program. Man how times have changed. The NKYFL should dump the senior division and try to salvage what they can with the younger groups.
  6. There are many possible consolidations left in Northern Ky. Hopefully it will not happen but ther amount of independent districts still in that area is almost mind boggling. In Campbell County alone you have 6 independent districts.
  7. GS........why should basketball, baseball, volleyball also not get classified?
  8. NO seeded games is one game alternating sights every year.................
  9. Ok it is easy for everybody to get on here and bash the schools that prefer not to seed but......................you do not ask football teams frm 1A schools to play Trinity so why are you making them do that in basketball? Seeding is fine as long as you classify (4 classes preferably). But again we are asking schools to not only to be put with schools 5 times their size but to also play them in the regular season and then play them again in the district when you seed. The blind draw allows those schools to not have to play them in regular season if they so choose and possibly avoid the largest schools in the district draw. Why.............................would a school the size of Dayton (just an example) vote to seed and be stuck playing Highlands and NCC in regular season as well as having to play one of those two every year in the first round of the district tourney. Those of you criticizing need to realize that schools need to do what is best for them and not what is best for your school.
  10. Districts should be seeded in conjunction with the KHSAA classifying basketball. Until they classify basketball then the seeding of districts is a joke. No school that has a 9-12 enrollment of 200 should be competing with a school with a 9-12 enrollment of 1,200.
  11. It is not reported on the KHSAA website. Who did they lose to in the consolation game of the Warrior Classic..........
  12. Well........................by your long pause in your comment I assume you are stating something was being taught you did not agree with. But then you go on to say "The varsity guys might interject a vocal accompaniment, as most do...." I can say that yes I have seen it taught to provide a sound when taking a charge although "yelling and screaming" certainly would not be part of that.........Rather it would be no different than a football player makign a sound as he makes a hit. Maybe teaching toughness was part of that process. Seems like we have a huge difference of opinion with someone saying it is definitely taught and you saying definitely not taught. Do not see where it really matters. The point being the lost art of taking a charge was taught at Brossart for a long time with coaches doing it in fashions they deemed correct........even prior to 1997 or as you have stated so well in other posts prior to the "Brossart modern era" of 1997 to the current.
  13. If you look at the state of college basketball........really the top 4 seeds are going to come from the following: Big East Champ, Big Ten Champ, ACC Champ, Big 12 Champ, SEC Champ In my opinion the easiest road to a championship in those 5 conferences is the SEC.........potentially less losses in other words. The ACC probably the 2nd easiest...................... Therefore I think from a record stand point the champion of the Big East Big Ten and Big 12 will nto only have more losses but have more chances of losing in the conference tournament.
  14. You can start with the above statement for most tourneys. IF you are playing the host school in first round you know what they think of your team. Some times a team will request to not play a certain team in the first round (already playing them, from their state, from their conference, etc) as a stipulation to accepting an invite. When you go to a tournament you know what to expect so if you do not like the teams in it do not go. Many times teams will wait a little and see who all is in a tourney before deciding if they want to call and place themselves in that tournament. Especially smaller schools who do not want to end up in a tourney like a lloyd. On paper lloyd is a 2A school so you might figure all like schools....but in reality it is loaded with larger schools every year. But you know that if you go to the Mike Swauger Tournament in Bellevue chances are you will get three other class A schools to play (except the year a certain local school decided to not play in it at the last minute and North College Hill took their spot at the last minute!!!!!!!!!!!).
  15. The way I look at this is there is not one team on the UL schedule that could beat UK. I also think UL would have lost both games UK did.....................................UK has played teams the caliber of UL and better so far this season. The reverse simply is not true and therefore the Cards will struggle with the UK defense and its shooting.
  16. Hoops 5 your point is exactly why I hate the parents who do it for the wrong reasons. Many students (particularly boys) are too immature at a young age and need extra help, etc. The fact that there are parents who abuse the system for athletics makes me very angry. Good luck with your son!!!!!!!! And yes I too have a child with a Sept. birthday who was not ready for school and needed more maturity. I am glad we waited to send him as he still struggles slightly academically.
  17. The flip side of the this is those that intentionally "hold kids back" so they have an athletic advantage. Now I know very specifically of parents who have done this and I find it nauseating. First a kid starts late because they have a close birthday to 10/1 and Kentucky does not enforce you have to start if your birthday is in August so the kid is already older................then he gets held back a year in elementary so that he can be bigger and stronger and in some cases almost 2 years older than many of the kids in his class. That is just as bad as the I think my kid is advanced so i start my kid early. Both types ofd parents are detremental to their own kids.
  18. From a talent standpoint I think Ky's frosh are more talented than the Cards. I see close early and the Cats pulling away in the second half to perhaps a 12-15 point win..................
  19. First the Wing T was a big part of the Charlie Coleman package. Second Chad is going to do an outstanding job and in the long run Bellevue is going to be second guessing themselves for not hiring him last year instead of the current coach that they have. Third..................the only down side is the negative impact on the baseball program if he does not keep the baseball job.
  20. I am well aware of that. However it puts UK in a tough spot. Are you supporting a one and done kid or are you standing on the sidelines trying to remain silent.
  21. Well the "6 man rotation" on the Silver Grove 6th grade team is out of necessity. That rotation is comprised of 4 6th graders and 2 5th graders. Unfortunately next guy in is a 2nd grader............................while he is the leading scorer on the 3/4 grade team it is a bit of a stretch to help this team that stands at 8-1. The 4 6th graders are pretty talented but hard to win against teams with any depth at all.
  22. Suing the NCAA puts UK in a tough spot because they are a paying member and agree to abide by the rules........Oh wait a minute the rules are written in some type of special ink that shifts words around every other day............. KHSAA = NCAA
