  1. Understand that social studies jobs are very rare and tough to find.....................And.............when you take that teaching job the majority of social studies teachers are male and do coach, making it a position that usually requires some coaching duties to be fulfilled at the school you are teaching. Social studies and PE teachers are as they say "a dime a dozen". No knock on Coach Reinhart just a fact that if you are a science, math ,or special ed teacher you can call some shots as they are in demand.............Not so much for SS or PE
  2. This game is one I think could be a problem for the Bluebirds.....................I hope it is not but not knowing the injury situation makes this a tough pick. I lean towards JC slightly in this game. Hoping of course I am wrong.
  3. My fault that game is the 5th grade finals
  4. Silver Grove Tourney looks like this 8th grade is St. Catherine vs Silver Grove in semi finals and St. Dominic vs RA Jones in other semi final game 6th grade has St. Joe vs Silver Grove in championship game Not sure about 7th grade although Pendleton County beat St .Therese in a late game last night to advance to the semi finals
  5. You would be surprised at how people can turn on others and forget who has given them second chances.....................
  6. And that is the inherent problem with the NKYFL and the schools they feed and why schools are going to middle school programs thus creating a huge issue at the senior level. Kids that live in Ft. Thomas and will be going to Highlands for example are making a majot impact on NKYFL teams and taking playing time from kids that will go to those schools (Bellevue and Newport right off the bat)......therefore those kids never develop. Case in point both the starting QB at Newport and the starting QB for Bellevue senior teams are Ft. Thomas kids...............NO QB is being developed for either high school team...........a recipe for disaster for those high schools. This not only makes the strong stronger (at least 4-5 QB's being developed in the Ft. Thomas league that Highlands has to choose from plus the two additional ones)..............but it really weakens these high school programs when they have nobody with experience coming into play skilled positions....................
  7. And where will those three young men mentioned playing for the Bellevue Seniors be going to HS???
  8. Jason Tillett not sure why you are so defensive about things. The idea of the forum is to post opinions. First I agree that Carroll needed to make some changes in order to get some wins. Getting your head smashed in does not do anybody any good. Second.........IF Carroll desires to make a next step now that you are winning some games some improvement on the schedule may be necessary...............That is not a knock on the coaching staff................that is more looking towards the future and the direction the program might be headed. That does not mean to change the schedule entirely and go crazy..........but maybe look at one team that significantly upgrades the schedule. Third.......the coaches comments in the paper seem to be sour grapes.................. Fourth I am very familiar with the Carroll County program all the way back to the Doug Berry head coaching days. So I know the ups and downs and I feel currently Carroll is on a good path. Unfortunately from a playoff perspective they are light years away from ever competing with NCC Holy Cross or Newport................
  9. Bellevue passed on him last year and based on things I would say they wish they had not..................
  10. No 7th grade team...............................2 7th graders are playing 8th grade basketball, one of which had been in the same class as the 8th graders until this year. The 8th grade team is very talented and deep. Can go about 8 or 9 deep. Many of the 8th graders are also playing freshman ball this year.
  11. Several games in the 3rd, 4th ,5th, and 6th grade divisions this weekend..................
  12. Silver Grove Irv Whifford Tourney: 7th grade boys No games until the 13th with Southgate vs St. Joe Camp Spring St. Therese vs RA Jones Ludlow vs Pendleton County St. PHillip vs St. Therese 8th grade Nov. 7th Silver Grove vs St. Joe Camp Spring Nov 14 SG/St Joe winner vs Dayton St. Catherine vs Sts Peter and Paul RA Jones vs Ludlow St. Therese vs St. Dominic
  13. Okay I do not think I can trust your version. Not even a hit on him?????????????? Are you serious? Looks like a hit to me on the receiver.............................. Anyway whether he was in or not the title of "worst call in high school history" is not accurate. This looks like a very close bang bang play.......................The "worst call" should be way more obvious that it is the wrong call.
  14. While it is nice that they did win you cannot dismiss the fact that they are playing teams 3-4 classes smaller than them. I agree that if it is ok with the coaches association then we should not have a problem with it. BUT lets not get carreid away into thinking this is going to translate into varsity wins against the larger schools...................I hope it does build some confidence so that they have a winning attitude............... And wins over Beechwood and NCC are good wins regardless of class size!!!!!
  15. First the coach was last years returning coach then in Sept. it was not.........no idea what happened to him.....A coach was then hired that had varsity experience as a head coach. Not sure what happened but he is not the coach now and about a week before tryouts a coach was hired with no basketball experience although he does referee football..........Now the question remains that at a school such at Highlands why they cannot hire a quality coach.
  16. But the kids on the 7th grade team have been coached well on there team outside of school..............Now the issue is will they regress due to poor coaching for their school team.............Why can't Highlands hire a quality coach for this team??????????
  17. Mustang that is a kind way of putting it. Look at the NCC schools and you see why this is a major issue with them. First.......they are land locked................They cannot expand into any more areas. Second................St. Therese is the only one of those schools that gives them a majority of students as the two Ft. Thomas schools are about a 50/50 split with Highlands every year. Now that being said NCC survives (as the intent of the diocesan plan) by getting students from the schools listed as "Brossart" schools. Without those schools NCC would be looking at a very small enrollment. Remember they draw from areas that the public schools have shrunk significantly as well not to mention very hard hit economically (Newport, Bellevue, Dayton, etc). Now whether you agree or disagree keeping both schools open was necessary. Even though the enrollment from those three areas is way down at NCC ,moving kids from those three areas out to a school in even lets say Cold Spring would be detrimental. If the diocese wanted to keep a presense in this "poorer" area required both schools to be viable and productive. However it does come somewhat at the expense of Brossart as the diocese could enforce some rules on feeder schools and higher tuition if you go outside your school. As far as the game is concerned I was not there but lets face it Dayton is struggling and maybe some things were not necessary. Bottom line is as was stated in a previous post Brossart does NOT want to become a hated team. Brossart in order to fill out a schedule is going to need the 1A schools to play in Northern Ky. such as Bellevue, dayton and Ludlow.
  18. 15??????????????? I have no idea what experience you have but you cannot possibly have a good situation with 15 kids. 10-12 is better.................but if you have 15 you have problems............especially with parents....................Especially with Ft. Thomas parents..................................
  19. Silver Grove has a tip-off tourney that runs beginning Nov. 05. I know they have all age divisions ranging from 3/4 grade to the 8th grade. And on a side note their 8th grade team will be comprised of all 8th graders except for maybe 1 or 2 7th graders, which is highley unusual for them due to how small a school it is. Very talented 8th grade class for the Big Trains....................
  20. Highlands 7th grade could be extremely good but two factors could cause problems.............. Choice of coach is very odd indeed........................Not exactly a guy that inspires confidence Do they have to keep too many players again this year (12-15) or will they only keep those that can play (like 10 players)
  21. This seems to run more in the girls sports as far as coaching issues (thinking girls basketball, volleyball, and now soccer)................Is this true or I am just seeing a coincidence?????????
  22. Makes some sense................although being as big a school as they are hopefully..someday........they will build a semi-competitive program.
  23. Why is a 5A school in the small school division???????????
  24. First of all the field must be between 100 and 120 yards long, and it has to be between 55 and 80 yards wide. http://www.khsaa.org/soccer/general.html Wow that is a huge disparity in width..........................That would fit on any football field...........................
