I was talking more about this 2010 year. It's not "Crazy Talk" just an observation. Can you tell me any names of their 2010 college signed players? I understand Louisville and Kentucky signing local talent that they get a chance to see fairly often. Did they sign anyone this year?

As everyone has said in the past. St. X and Trinity usually have mass talent, while the public/independent schools have one or two individual exceptional players supported by a mediocre few. After seeing St. X this past year, I am a bit surprised that they did not put more numbers into the DI level of college football. I'm not saying that St.X doesn't have exceptional athletes because I don't get the chance to see them every week to pass that judgement, but there must be some reason the college scouts are pulling from other schools,who knows. And yes, i have to agree that St.X is very well coached talented or not.

Didn't Boone's JV also handle Ryle pretty easily Tuesday night. As usual Boone will be underestimated by many next year, but that never phases them, specially the 2011,2012 group. They have won the freshman and JV tournament the past two years in a row and there's no reason to say they won't compete for the district title again next year. I see Conner as the biggest threat with overall talent, and Ryle to compete as they have in the past but coming up short.

I believe they called a foul on Ryle #25. And after the foul #25 ran in front of the BC bench and you could see Coach Fookes was saying something, not sure what, but the foul was off the ball an uncalled for, unsportsmen like and perhaps that was what Coach said to her when she walked by? On another play the ball had gone out of bounds and they called it BC ball. A time out was called and when they returned from the time out, they gave the ball to Ryle. I believe the refs realized their mistake during the quarter break, looked like they were discussing that they had messed that one up pretty well.

I agree! Once Miles starts to experience the DI college football atmosphere through reality, if he truly loves the game he'll play wherever they want him to. I look forward to getting a chance to see him get on the field because I believe he has some special talents an hopefully we'll see that deceptive speed coming out of the backfield.

The 40 time is considered important in todays game because of the speed the game is played at now. There's plenty of talented players out there in high school, but some are just a step faster than the next and that makes a difference to scouts. Recruiters look at your current speed and the potential you have to become faster through their training techniques. I believe some combines are even getting away from the bench press and concentrating more power combined with agility/speed test. The days of the muscle bound slow pokes are pretty much behind us. I always tell my kids "they can't hit what they can't catch".

It was nice to see Boone finally seal a win by hitting free throws and not giving it away by missing them. Nice job by Popp in the end going 6 for 6.

With his size and speed he could play any one of those positions. I could see him as a short yardage RB or safety more than corner.

That's great! I think Miles will become a great addition to UK football. Congratulations to a kid that has worked hard through high school educationally and athletically to get a chance to continue doing what he loves to do, he'll enjoy the experience.

Maybe the other high schools should start a tradition also and not offer a locker room when Highlands shows up at their home court. (Give em a port a potty). I have always seen both teams on the court during introductions and it should be no different under a new coach. The AD needs to step in and make an adjustment. In reality, I hope the other schools keep their class and respect for their opponents and be on the bench for introductions. Gotta be different:ohbrother:

Yes, Popp did provide a good spark on defense and a great offensive move to the basket. Cotton rebounded, shot well, and played good defense also. It's really good to see Gabbard-the floor leader-start to take control of his game and scoring on drives. IMO one ref controlled the game with some very questionable calls mainly in the second half. It got to the point where the players no longer complained (which is good), they just laughed it off. Having three refs can be a benefit until one gets the "Napoleon Complex" and makes calls that aren't in his assigned area. Although, two good apples out of three is a pretty good pick.

Brown and Lay continue to play big for the Rebels offensively and defensively. The team chemistry seems to be picking up at the right time and hopefully coach Mcreary is starting to see which groups are performing well together on the floor.

Why would he even be in during the 4th at all with a score like that?

As for exposure, the AAU circuit gives the players a chance to be seen, but they also have to put in the work distributing game footage to draw the scouts in. Even inn AAU, there's very few that receive personalized attention from the scouts, but if you have put your game film out there early, the scouts know what to look for when they're in your area. As it looks, this will be two seperate teams, but when needed (due to injury, vacations or whatever) they could combine players from the teams. So this could go either way for the merger, but I see it as a good thing, because now the Shining Stars program can seriously compete with talent of Indiana Elite teams that builds teams with kids from other countries.

True, but when you play 3+ games in a weekend, a team like this would not wear down with the ability to switch 5 an 5 as much as a team with less numbers in talent.

I agree with your observation totally. Montgomery seems to find his game much better from the peremiter, and that's where he should remain when Boone faces opponents with more bulk inside. I too have noticed a lot of shots going up while overlooking the open man inside, which is fine as long as your nailing down the shot as Montgomery was against HHS. It's the forcing of shots by some that needs to be addressed. I wouldn't expect Montgomery or Brown to be the team leaders at this point because of the number of Seniors they have on the team. But that's part of being a leader, you don't waite around for someone to take charge, you assume the role, and I wouldn't mind seeing either one of them doing that to help this out. If the seniors don't like it, then maybe they'll become more assertive in the role. I just hope they get it together before it's too late. Too much talent on that team to play the way they have been.

IMO Brown and Montgomery should be on the floor together more than what has been shown. They may not be seniors, but they seem to know how to take control of their game once they get into a rhythm. Montgomery could emerge to be the leader that replaces the energy that is missing from the departure of Mcfarland. That team plays too quiet, the lack of vocal leadership can cause a team to just float through a game and that's what the Rebels appear to be doing.

I have to disagree with you here. The match up could have been offset with what Brown brings with his aggressive play as it wears down his defender and they produce less on the offensive side. There was no more of match up problem than him or Lay being on the court. Brown simply did not get much time on the floor in the second half to get a chance to make anything happen. The coach is leaning on his seniors and none of them have really stepped up to get this team in the right direction. I have heard from opposing coaches about their disbelief in why Brown isn't a starter or gets more time on the floor. IMO the substituting by Boone's coach was really disruptive to them trying to get something going. With Grubbs out Boone should have pounded the inside, there were several times, Lay, Brown and Earls had their guy posted up and the ball did not get inside. This team seems to be scrambling looking for some direction and it's pretty ugly to watch.

Please give your reason for thinking Boone can not compete with the Birds down low.
