DSAS 16s switch to Shining Star

Featured Replies

I'll just let my other thread go away since I can't change the title of that "AAU 2010" thread. After months of debating, today the Derek Smith All Star 16's team from last year has switched to the Shinning Star organization.

All of the players and coaches from last years 16s team will be making the switch.

I support all my boys, whichever team they play for, you know that.

What is the reason for this? How many 16's teams will SS have this year?

The DSAS team that switched over were 16s last year, they will be 17s this year. SS has about 35 total boys teams. But this is KYs best team.

Lionell Gaines- Eastern

Arman Marks- Eastern

Donovan Kates- Christian Co

One other team that had GRC players is talking to others as well. :sssh::cool:

This doesn't surprise me at all. Alex Meacham and Buddy Pittman have built SS into a tremendous organization.

I curiously wander  what meachem had to do get this deal done... DSAS (kids from all over KY) was thee top team in KY last year. The SSS (kids from several different areas) was 2nd to them, but it wasnt too close IMO. 3rd maybe being the WKY Elite or the NKY Bulldogs (all kids from one small area). Again, this is just for KY.

So, will the SSS program have 2, 3, or 4 teams playing 17U?

Combining those 2 teams could really be good for SSS and for the other AAU teams in the state. Which is great for the state of KY.

The only thing I wander about is what happens to the players from the other SSS 16's from last year. Now they have to play second fiddle to the best in the state.

I have heard that some of the kids that played for the SSS (pittman) team from last year will be leaving the team this year to play with a newly created organization. Is that really true? I cant imagine.

As someone who now has nor ever has had any involvement in AAU I have to ask if this is significant in any way and , if so, how?
