Highlands/Boone County 1/23 Predictions

Featured Replies

I know the Birds have a tough task tonight against Ryle but thought I would throw this one out there as well to discuss since it is a big game.

Boone Co looks to be healthy and the guards are playing well while Brown has come on in the paint. Highlands also has won some quality ballgames convincingly over Cov Cath/NCC and Kowolonek looks to have found his scoring touch.

Key matchups will be the following IMO.

Earls/Grubbs

Kowolonek/Gabbard

Lother/Popp

Watson/Brown

Should be a fun game to watch.

Should be a good game but Highlands depth inside will be the difference. Boone simply won't be able to compete with the Birds down low and I think their physical style of defense will really bother the Rebels.

Highlands- 55

Boone Co- 48

Please give your reason for thinking Boone can not compete with the Birds down low.

Highlands 53-Boone 49 the birds should be a able to pull this off in a close one. But would not surprise me if it went the other way.

This is a toss up. Two things have to happen for Boone to win IMO their guards have to score and secondly they need their big guys to get Highlands bigs into foul trouble. If Boone gets it going they win if not Highlands will win.

If Kowolonek is scoring the rebels will have trouble.

It appears Popp and Gabbard weren't in the game last night, by the paper. Maybe Boone still has some players injured/sick? Isn't Grote still out for Highlands? The other matchup will be Keller-Smith vs. Cotton?

Please give your reason for thinking Boone can not compete with the Birds down low.

May depend on how the refs call the game. Last year at Highlands it was extremely physical and the refs let a lot go. The regional matchup was not as physical, and the refs had a tighter rein. Brown is probably as physically strong as Grubbs, and Earls can match up with him and/or Watson too, just like in the regionals last year. Should be a good game.

If Kowolonek is scoring the rebels will have trouble.

:thumb: Mr. K. will be the best player on the floor in this game. If he goes for >17, HHS gets the W.

Someone should have told Highlands they still had to play Ryle the night before. Raiders won big

They will have to score more than they did against Ryle...

This game could go either way, but I say Highlands by 3

If you saw the Ryle vs Highlands game tonight you could not pick the Birds tomorrow at Boone Co. HHS will have to play a lot better than their effort tonight to be in the game.
