Nice win for the Rebels against a Ryle team that has been playing good basketball.

I think Ryle could be a major player for the 9th title. They aren't sexy but from what I have seen they have some size and play a tough aggressive style of defense. The 33rd should be a good one with BC, Ryle, Conner and SHDHS.

St. Henry is no longer in 33rd.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I was looking at a poll on another sports board a few weeks ago. The poll question was "Which lower-ranked team has the best chance to win the boys 9th Region basketball tournament?"

 

The choices were Conner, Covington Catholic, Newport and Scott.

What a FUN game to watch! Both teams played their hearts out and laid it on the line. Both coaches should be happy with their team effort. Very, very physical game. Boone just had too much depth for Ryle in this one. Ryle has no one to turn to on their bench to rest their starters.

I wish all high school games were played with this much intensity.

I wasn't at the game but it seems in the second half Boone got up and down the court a little bit more according to the box score.

 

8 Boone players scoring between 5 and 12 points in the game? Being led by Cotton (12) and Montgomery (11). Wow, talk about balanced scoring....

As I have said before, Boone is very balanced. 8 different players have led them in scoring this year, and 7 of those multiple times. It was a good team effort. Cotton had a good game shooting and had a couple of nice blocks. Popp came off the bench in the last minute of the game to hit 6 straight free throws to seal it. I thought that Montgomery, Lay, Schulze, Brown, Earls, Popp, Cotton all made nice contributions at different times for Boone. Gabbard had a quiet game and had to leave for awhile with a cut. Earls left the game early with an ankle sprain.

In half of Boone's losses (Highlands, Newport, and St. Henry), they did not hit their free throws well.

Good win for Boone Co. I am surprised somewhat, I thought Ryle would seal this game in a win. I think we are in for an interesting round of regional basketball.

Ryle has been playing some good basketball lately. Nice win by the Rebels.

 

Stauffer has McLeish have both been playing very well lately.
