Let's not forget Ms. Jones so quickly. Whitfield has a LONG way to go before she hits that level. I like Whitfield a lot, but Jones was a really nice player.

I think SO is the favorite, but someone will have to beat Simon at home to do it. No small task...

Don't sleep on Shelby. In a region that is wide open, Shelby has experience at guard and an athletic freshman in the frontcourt.

Oldham certainly is the wild card of the region coming into the season.

I think Owen will be strong. Anderson and to a lesser degree Simon Kenton were hit hard by graduation. I think coming in Owen could be the #2 team in the region behind South.

The 8th is going to be wild. South Oldham is the favorite, but it's up for grabs. There are a half dozen teams who could go to Bowling Green.

A year older, Manual might challenge for the state.

Marion's best three players are as good as anyone's top 3 right now. Not to mention, they are two freshmen and a sophomore.

:walk:Marion Co. has the best young group in the state, and it's not even close.

Slaughter and Drake are to close to call. I'd say it will depend on their development this summer. Rowe and Barnett are right behind.

Anderson will have a VERY hard time improving on the last two years, during which they went to two regional finals. Anderson lost five seniors, and does not have a lot of experience coming back. To be blunt, they are very young! If last years JV is any indication, they could have four middle school players in rotation, led by 8th grader Eriel McKee. Soph. Sydney Brown could have a big year. However, guard play will be the key. They will certainly miss Fultz, Davenport and Milam from the last few seasons.

I've only seen Owen play a couple times. What are some things they need to address?

I'd say point by committee is a probability. However, it's kinda like NFL qb's...if you have two, you really have none.

I don't know if South Oldham was exposed as much as it was a by-product of youth. I think Simon will be better than people think. Their system is outstanding. Anderson County doesn't have a point guard. Brown actually brought it up a few times. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced WV could win the district. All in all, the difference between #1 and #7 is very thin.

I think Owen could be counted as one of the teams without major flaws.

Only thing definite is that Zimmerman won't be back. How would you like to follow her at Shelby when the talent comes back to the pack? Whew... Someone has their work cut out.

Nice post retro. I agree Miller has done an outstanding job at WV. There will def. be parity in the 8th. I hope all these teams are able to play each other in the regular season...

Anderson had one of the largest crowds I've seen at the state tourny for a first round game. Elliott, for the size of school, had an impressive following as well.

Personally, I like Sportsmaniac's idea for the 30th. Anderson and Shelby need to stay in the same district IMO. Either way get ready for something to happen, because it sounds like re-districting WILL happen. We will know something by May...
