What does Oldham County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

This question just begs top be asked: How/why has this job become such a revolving door in just a few seasons? It's just hard for some people to imagine and explain, but it certainly is the current reality. :confused:

Todd Gilley left so he could take an Athletic Director's position. Hard to knock a guy for getting a promotion...

 

Tony Simpson was an interim coach only. All knew up front that he would only coach a couple of years.

 

Although Larry Just never said so up front, my distinct impression was that the Oldham job was just the one to get him back closer to home from Tennessee. He wanted all along to get back to Louisville, which is where he lives and all his basketball siblings coach...

 

So...it was hardly an issue with the job, more an issue of circumstances.

 

Mullins has more the look of a long-timer... :dancingpa

 

Oldham has the potential to be very good this year, with several veteran players. The new coach - and a new coaching philosophy - may mean a slow start, but they should definitely contend for the district crown and be a dark horse for the region.

Hope you are correct, Colonel Mike, as this former elite program has too proud of a heritage to not sustain itself.

Oldham County got a very good coach that wants to be there. They will be fine. It may take a year or two, maybe not...it just depends on how the older kids buy into a new system. Don't be surprised if that tradition is restored at Oldham County sooner than later!!! Good luck Lady Colonels.

I've been around the program since 1976, when Dave Weedman took a team that had never had a winning season and won the district and region while going 18-4 with his first team. That started a string of something like 11 regional titles in 14 or 15 years, to go with one state championship and one runner-up finish.

 

It is a very proud tradition, and I hope that Coach Mullins will embrace it and return the program to its former levels... I haven't met him yet, but I've heard some wonderful things about him. Sounds like the school made a great pick!

Oldham certainly is the wild card of the region coming into the season.

I think Oldham Co. will be the team to watch this year. The girls love Coach Mullins, he's a run and gun kind of coach. With the experienced of the senior class and a new freshman PG Jessie Leanhart which avg. 20 points and 5 steals a game in MS and 10th grader Melton is a great 3 pt. shooting guard also.

Yes, Colonel Mike I have heard that she may be one of the top freshman in the 8th. We will see.... :thumb:
