Lots of young talent on display this past weekend in Louisville. I was able to catch a number of the games and here's what i came away with.....

 

 

- Marion County will be good. Very good. Those young kids can flat out play. Makayla Epps is bigger, stronger, and faster. She may be the best PG in the state NEXT season.

 

 

- Came away really impressed by the young PG for Catholic. She plays for the Paris Stars. Got to see her play a couple of times and she is an excellent ball handler and passer.

 

 

- There is a ton of talent in the city of Louisville. Have fun trying to get through the 6th and 7th regions in the coming years.

 

 

- Anderson County has a tremendously talented group of young kids. They will make some noise in the coming years.

I got to watch Anderson County literally "have their way" with 12U Jaguars and I was very impressed with Anderson. They can shoot, pass ahead, and play pretty good man defense. That group is very tough and they also beat the Larue Co team that was very good for the championship. They are going to impact the 8th region next year IMO.

 

Lots of talent at the tournament and glad to see so many quality teams.

They got beat by the Derek Smith All-Star team.....I think.

I am sure they still looked impressive. That is a very talented group of players.

One has to wonder if they won't encounter problems along the way though..... a lot of talent stacked in one place. They have a chance to be something special though.

Marion's best three players are as good as anyone's top 3 right now. Not to mention, they are two freshmen and a sophomore.

They are gonna have a chance to win the 5th region for the next 4 years....and contend in the state as well.

I watched Anderson play in the AAU State tournament couple of weeks ago. Very impressed with their talent. The BCK team that defeated them in the semifinal also three 8th Region players. The 8th will be very competitive for the next several years. I look for Anderson to win 2-3 region titles with this group.

#10 Gallatin County (defended Cann), #3 Walton-Verona, #1 Simon Kenton. I am pretty sure those uniform numbers are correct. They went on to defeat the Northern KY Tigers in the final. In my opinion, Anderson, BCK, Louisville Select, and the NKY Tigers all should have been playing D-1 instead of D-2.

I did not get to see any of their games, looking more for names. Is Cann # 15?

 

As for the Louisville Select team, they should have had a team competing in the D1 as well- they have two teams- a red and a black. Red ususally plays at the higher level unless they changed things around.

 

I noticed that there are more teams playing at the D2 level than at the D1 level, at least that was the case with the 11U groups this year. Was it the same for the 12U's? Not sure why that is the case.....
