What does Anderson County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Anderson will have a VERY hard time improving on the last two years, during which they went to two regional finals. Anderson lost five seniors, and does not have a lot of experience coming back. To be blunt, they are very young! If last years JV is any indication, they could have four middle school players in rotation, led by 8th grader Eriel McKee. Soph. Sydney Brown could have a big year. However, guard play will be the key. They will certainly miss Fultz, Davenport and Milam from the last few seasons.

They may have a re-building year but it will only make it more interesting in the 8th. Coach Kays young players looked good and will be interesting to watch in the coming years

For all the successes that AC has had the past few years, they may not compare to what may be just around the corner for this group of extremely talented youngsters. Their size, quicks and length all add up to reasons to look for much better things than two regional runner-ups. To use a horse-racing analogy: With regard to the Lady Bearcats, Alydar may evolve into Affirmed in only a few seasons.

One of the main concerns will be point guard play for Anderson. Who will run the point, the only true PG I have seen is in 7th grade. Anderson really missed Gemmel this year from two years ago and will continue to struggle at the point, unless one of their young talents really improves.

As one long-time girls coach I spoke to said it. "Anderson County has the best young class of girls I have ever seen since I have been in coaching." High Praise in deed.

 

AC started a 6th grader and 3 7th graders on the JV team this past season. They went 16-1 win impressive wins over Lafayette, Dunbar, Franklin County, Clark County, Nelson County, South Oldham and many more. I know JV isn't varsity but that's pretty darn impressive.

 

Anderson may struggle a bit next season, but if this group of kids sticks together and avoids major injuries, transfers and what not they will be a special group of girls whose goals may rise well above regional championships.....

Middle school, yes. Mckee played no Freshman ball and Cann played sparingly.

Im hearing rumors out of Frankfort that talented freshman to be Danielle Watson is transfer from Western Hills to Anderson County. Any Franklin County folks hearing these rumors??
