  1. Jerry Gross, that is a name I haven't heard in a long time, he got out of coaching when Sullivan left Campbell County. He was the top assistant there for Sullivan and was on the bench for the state tournament team in 2001. Coach Gross had the makings of being a great head coach, but he has been out of coaching for at least a 2 or 3 years now. That would be very interesting if he gets the coaching job, is he getting an interview for it?
  2. I don't know much about Hinson or Persinger but looking at their schedule for next year on the khsaa website, a blind man could win 15 games.
  3. Also in the Herald it said that Johnathan new that, it didn't say he shared that information with his father.
  4. My nephew said that he resigned last week after accepting the job in January. His name was Jones, don't know his first name but he resigned from Head Coach as well as his teaching position. Position is posted on the KHSAA website as well.
  5. Players coming back, Mikey & Hunter Jones are going to be the weapons for the tigers next season. Guard play will be a concern but they will have one of the best big guys in Mikey and most athletic with Hunter in the 9th Region All A.
  6. Preach it you made the biggest statement of all the teaching positions. Right now there are no teaching positions posted on the KDE website, that isn't to say that one won't open, but as of now there are none posted so the teacher is going to have to be hired in as either a para-professional or teach in a different district.
  7. I don't think you can ever call a schedule watered down at a school like Bracken County. If you expect them to beat or compete with schools the caliber of Mason County and Clark County, etc then you have no idea about the game of basketball. Bracken County has one or two players that could play at those types of schools, and they would be about the 8th or 9th man on varsity and start on the JV team. I also talked to my brother who has a son in the Bracken County school system. He said that counting the loss of their point guard, Bracken County loss three starters off the team that won five games. Appelman, Williams and the other name I don't recall. So PB1994, I did check my information.
  8. We will be a lot better. Catherine Gessen returns, she averaged about 15 last year, she can really shoot the basketball from deep. I look for her to be up around 20 points next year and the Lady Tigers should win double figures under Tommy Sorrell.
  9. He might have been young and inexperienced but he won 9 games at Bracken County when they won 5 the year before. You Bracken County people are full of false hope, you will never compete for anything just as you have the whole existence of Western Civilization. I know he was offered the job at my alma-mater Bellevue last year and wish he would have taken that.
  10. Is Knott County Central open, I haven't seen it posted or heard anything about it.
  11. Definetly guard play will be a question mark. Barrett will be hard to replace, not a great player but he played 32 minutes all year and handled the ball above average for the Tigers. Herald did teach at a different school, wonder if that had anything to do with the new coaching search? I think Nick Wilson would be good, but I believe that the new coach will be the guy at Villa, I dont konw if it is an assistant or head coach there but I know one of them was very interested last year and the time before that. I believe it is the assistant at Villa.
  12. I would think that Nick Wilson will be the next coach, only fitting. As a Bellevue supporter I am hoping that their basketball team will catch up with their football team. There is talent to work with, Mikey & Hunter are two nice big men to be competitive in their conference.
  13. The reason it hasn't been posted is because the job isn't open yet. I was told breeze's teaching position was cut but he hasn't resigned from the basketball job yet and he wasn't fired, his teaching position was cut. It is all speculation to this point and just a matter of time before it is official. If he has the option to stay on as coach or not I don't know the bylaws. I would assume he can't stay on and coach being he is a teacher and 70 % or so of his salary was cut. I am hearing the new coach will come from the 9th region.
  14. Patrick Kelsch coaches girls basketball and tennis at Bracken County. Somewhat shocked he didn't know that and mention that himself.
  15. Coach Calipari brought Strickland to Memphis when he signed Derrick Rose to help mentor him. Calipari must have been impressed with Strickland to now make him an assistant in Lexington.
  16. 15-0, 18-0 Either way it was an offensive onslaught to say the least.
  17. I am as die hard Kentucky as anyone, but the 1978 team wasn't a top team. You have to consider some of the UCLA teams, they had Bill Walton or Kareem, something that is unstoppable especially in todays game a good big man with post moves that can score. Also the 2001 Duke team I dis-agree with them as well. The 1992 duke team was a good team, I think the 1994 Razorbacks could play with a lot of people too.
  18. I remember Orlando Antiqua playing for Pittsburgh when they beat Kentucky. I am wanting to say he was on the team that beat Kentucky at Rupp Arena in the UKIT, but he may have played on the Pitt team that beat Kentucky with Vonteego Cummings in Puerto Rico.
  19. We don't have to worry about them forfeiting a win to us since we beat them in the Music City Bowl. GO CATS
  20. I think you have to go with one of the freshman and move Cobb back to receiver. Using Cobb at receiver gives another playmaker on the field, something that we lacked last year.
  21. Tubby Cat stated that it was more than wins & losses, it started with Coach Breeze's teaching position. His teaching position was cut, but from what I was told today he has not resigned as coach yet nor was he fired. Will there be a coaching change, more than likely. I don't know to many high school basketball coaches that can live off of their 8,000-12,000 dollar stipend for coaching.
  22. I enjoyed watching the 10th region games as a fan, it was comfortable, but I still prefer the high school gym for tournament play. In my opinion playing in a college arena like this makes it almost like the state tournament or super bowl, where it is more corporate and takes the fans and momentum of the crowd out of the game.
