  1. SL wins. No one to contain St. John, Gilbert, or Watkins.
  2. The Region will not be leaving the arena anytime soon. Take that one to the bank. NL has already made more money with a fraction of the problems they would have had by hosting it at their own gym.
  3. IMO opinion KC made the biggest mistake that I have seen so many teams make against the Cards. They simply got away from what put them in the position to lead. You just have to keep attacking SL. If you devert from what you do they will take advantage. With that being said, I would take Gilbert and Watkins on my team any day of the week. Gilbert was clearly in pain and still managed to put his team on his back. What a tough kid! Watkins also nailed a big 3 when it looked like KC was in control. I also have to give a shout-out to St. John. He hit 2 free throws with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Looks like the Cards should be in yet another 13th Region Finals.
  4. I think we both agree that between the officials and the clock fiasco there was more than enough reasons for either team to throw in the towel. However, I am so impressed by the way that all the kids fought till the bitter end. I know that Bell is hurting today, but they have nothing be ashamed of. In fact, I think Bell is the toughest matchup in the Region for a lot of teams. They just seem to have a ton of 6'2" extrememly strong kids. I hope Corbin beats Clay too, but I'm a little nervous as to how the Hounds will react after this game. I think you will either see a team that got a serious wake-up call or a team that is completely drained. Either way very dangerous game...again...for CHS.
  5. I'm sure you are basing this on the charging call on Maden in the 4th OT. I agree it was terrible, but with that said at the end of the 3rd OT Manns absolutely got mugged and nothing was called. The officials stunk...but, it was both ways.
  6. If you were as good as Madison...Would you play at Lynn Camp?
  7. The officiating will be less than desirable...just hope it doesn't decide a game.
  8. I agree with you, but I think the Corbin/Bell Co. game will be dandy also. Maiden is a fantastic player and could give the Hounds fits. I know Corbin is treating Bell with the proper respect because they are plenty capable of pulling the upset. Besides that, look for KC to give SL all they can handle. SL has been very inconsistent this year. If KC can keep Watkins and Gilbert under control (easier said than done) they could make a game of this one too.
  9. As is the case every year at Regional time...I am amused by the good draw-bad draw scenarios. I have watched the 13th Region for 28 years now and I have to say that the draw means very little. Excluding Clay Co.'s dominance until the early 90s any team can win it. I think that you have 3 teams that are better than the other 5, but with that said any of those 5 is capable of an upset.
  10. An ugly win is better than no win at all...If the Hounds continue to find ways to win and SL gets the kind of play from Gilbert and Watkins that they got tonight we could very well see a repeat of last years Regional Championship match-up. Anyway, congrats to the Hounds.
  11. No one is writing off NL, but Clay is the favorite and probably the 2nd best team in the Region. I'm actually pulling for NL, but I think they have their work cut out for them. I just think that Clay is a tougher matchup for the Hounds. With that said, in the Region everyone has a legitimate shot. I haven't forgotten about the NL/CHS game last year. I meant no disrespect and wish the Jags the best of luck tonight.
  12. I picked the Cards last time so maybe I'm a jinx for South. However, this time I'll take the Hounds. South has good coaching and will have a good game plan, but I think the Hounds will slow down Watkins enough to pull it off. Besides, the implications of this game are huge...Nobody wants to chance playing Clay Co. in the first round.
  13. Yes its true....the Campers won the Super Bowl!!! They won a freakin JV game. Give me a break!!!
  14. Here's my formula for the Raiders win.... Out rebound Hounds by 12 + shoot 61% from field + 66% from 3 pt = WIN Corbin was not the better team tonight. It happens. The Raiders have a great team and deserved the "W". p.s. Corbin shot 39% (31% from 3 pt)...ouch...cold as the weather.
  15. Corbin isn't receiving any recognition statewide and that's just fine with me. I like the idea of being an underdog and having a bit of a chip on your shoulder should you be lucky enough to win the region again. Although, most would say that it will be a quick exit from the Sweet 16 for the winner of the 13th I like coming in as relative "nobodys." It provides an opprtunity to catch one of the giants of the 11th in a situation where they have already penciled themselves into the quarter-finals. Besides, I wouldn't be suprised if Scott Co. comes up short again. They are extremely talented, but they are not the most intelligent team that I've seen. As well all know, the distict and region will force all teams to win in a variety of ways. In response to Les's rankings. I think Les in an absolute genius. In fact, I hear he will be leaving Southeast Ky to head up ESPN's bracketology.
  16. I have to admit that I was a little suprised with the way the game went. I thought Corbin would play well, but I didnt think that SL would hurt themselves with shot selection in the 2nd half the way they did. In fact, as Les made sure to point out to me, I even picked the Cards. Glad I'm not in Vegas right now. Also, the officiating was terrible! Both ways. I have seen those gentlemen referee many times and they are better than they performed tonight. Granted they are not the best...but they are better than they showed.
  17. I can't belive I'm saying this... but I almost hope the Hounds come up a little short. I think that while a Corbin victory would be nice its going to be hard to beat SL 4 times (if we should meet in the District and Region). They are too good of a team to think that they will lose 4 times to anyone. Anyway, sticking with this thought process I'll pick the Cards by 3.
  18. Here's how I saw the game... Corbin played well in the 2nd qtr. South played well in the 3rd qtr. Both teams were average in the 1st and 4th. One point I haven't heard mentioned is that both teams are very good at taking away what the other team likes to do. 9 out of 10 ten times when these teams play it'll be a nailbiter for that reason (assuming talent levels are similar). With this in mind, I think you can expect that the next two or three times they meet will probably be a game of evenly matched runs and who plays the best in the final two minutes of play.
  19. NL may have voted for it if they had reserved seating like South. Ask any AD how much reserved seating does for you in terms of revenue. If I was North I would've done the same thing unless I got some chairbacks and a had a legitimate chance to make it worth my while.
