  1. The only thing that gets under my skin is the fact that a controversial call may have made a difference in the game. I hate to see a solid effort fall victim to a missed call. Jackets are proving they won't be an easy 1st round opponent for anyone. As far as the SL cheering section...They seemed to have disappeared after the departure of the "Big 3." I guess we'll see them the next time SL has a team that is head-and-shoulders above the rest.
  2. I agree that losses to KCC and Scott probably hurt. I personally think that Corbin is rated appropriately. In fact, I would say that just about any of these teams could beat the other on a given night. Then again, I'm not a big fan of the polls. I played on team ranked #1 in the state for several weeks and we lost in the 1st round of the regional. No one remembers polls - just trips to Rupp.
  3. Wish the Burg could of pulled it off. Would have been quite a win for the program. The Jackets will be a tough draw @ home in the district.
  4. I think you nailed it. I thought Corbin did a tremendous job of regaining focus in the 2nd half. Crawford really took over and demonstrated the type of leadership that all successful teams have. I can remember plenty of times when Ty Proffitt or Jordan Hammons did the same thing during the great run that SL had.
  5. I agree that there is some improvement needed in the officiating in the 13th region. However, I don't think lackluster performances from the people in stripes is limited to this area. After watching a multitiude of games across the state most of the same complaints hold true from Pikeville to Paducah. Its just like any other profession - the only way to get improvement across the board is to have a greater pool of talent to choose from and higher accountability for those chosen. Unless and until that happens, nothing will change.
  6. You're right - Josh is an unselfish player. In fact, I think at times he needs to look to score more. If he really asserts himself he is indeed a "game-changer." Will be very interesting to see how much the Hounds develop leading into the District Tournament.
  7. South is a very dangerous team. They are capable of beating anyone on a give night. Especially if St. John's supporting cast plays the way they did last night. Look out for the Cards come tournament time.
  8. Looks like we both have the same level of intolerance for "knuckleheads." Best of luck the rest of the season. The district tournament should be a lot of fun. See you there.
  9. I understand your point. I should have paid more attention to the qualifiers you put in your statements. I also have a great deal of respect for the WHS program. I suppose my comment was more related to the rumblings of undeducated fans that always seem to find a seat right next to me as opposed to the actual team. And yes, we all have arrogant and rude fans - most of whom have never stepped foot on a court. Don't get me wrong - I'm a Redhound, but I'm also reasonable enough to acknowledge a good point when one is made. And you my friend, make a good one.
  10. This type of rhetoric is exactly why I have such a dislike for the Jackets. I have been associated with basketball in this area for 30+ years and I never hear belly-aching like this from the likes of Whitley or South. Heck, I never even heard it from Lynn Camp, Knox Central, or B'Ville in the old 50th district.
  11. You quoted my post...I think we are on the same page. Aren't we?
  12. Corbin didn't play their best, but they can't all be pretty.
  13. That's because there is secret society of refs that want to see Williamsburg lose and Corbin win. Give me a break.... the officiating had nothing to do with the outcome. Williamsburg didn't have the mental or physical toughness to keep it close for 4 quarters.
  14. Totally get your drift. Will you post the final?
  15. Don't worry Hounds up by 17 after the 3rd. :thumb:
  16. Corbin up 17 @ the end of the 3rd. Sounds like the jackets are losing composure.
  17. I like the rankings. After Corbin, there are so many reasons to rank the other teams in any given spot. The only poll that will truly tell us anything is the one taken on the court at Bell Co. during the Regional tourney.
  18. I hope Corey does a good job at Whitley. He has been through all the ups and downs of the basketball world and beyond. His experience will an asset, but not as much as his ability to show the kids at Whitley that they can compete with anyone. I have watched the Colonels for years and most of the time talent is not the issue, but rather the mentality that they can beat the likes of Corbin, Clay, KCC, and SL when it counts. If the administration is patient with the current staff they will be one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the region year after year. If you don't believe me just look at what their football program has done.
  19. I don't know much about Madisonville-NH other than it looks like they have played a tough schedule. However, I doubt they have anyone who can match-up to Matt St. John so it will probably come down to whether SL is making shots from the perimeter. Then again, SL doesn't have anyone who can match-up to Jon Hood.
  20. This is very dangerous game for the Hounds. LCA is much better than their record indicates. They haven't played any "cupcakes." Can Corbin continue their hot streak?
  21. I hope you're right. I have always had a particular dislike for the Jackets. I guess it stems from my playing days. I don't know Coach Robinson or any of the players so its definately not personal. Don't get me wrong I wish them well as long as the Hounds aren't playing them. Oh well, I feel better now. My shrink says its better to express myself on occasion. Guess I can cancel my appearance on Dr. Phil.
