  1. I respectfully disagree. I think it will be great to see the Region moved to an neutral site instead of being at Clay and Bell every couple of years. The only advantage Corbin will have is if the other teams fans decide not to show. Don't see that happening....Give it a chance.
  2. I understand your feelings but please consider that North Laurel will be able to run the tournament as they see fit. The ticket prices and concessions will be specially priced to accomodate a HS basketball tournament.
  3. Ike is a wonderful kid and a superb PG. He has a motor that never stops and the fact that he loves the Steelers makes him even more endearing.
  4. No one is hanging anything at this point. We know that its a long season and the real "hat-hangers" come in the playoffs.
  5. You've made the same statement over and over. If a kid is good enough it doesn't matter what the coach thinks. Let it go.
  6. There's no doubt that Crawford would have been a top-notch player in any sport that he would have played. However, he didn't play football because he didn't want to. The same reason that Manns plays - personal choice. I can guarantee you that Coach P. or Coach Jewell would never tell someone who is as talented as Manns to make a choice. Why would either one of them take a chance on a young person chosing the other sport?
  7. $50,000 offered to the Region and to be divided according to a vote by ALL member schools.
  8. Just like you...I don't represent my city or school. I simply cheer for the Hounds. As far as financial benefits...check with your local government or chamber of commerce and ask them what impact hosting the regional tournament has on local businesses.
  9. Yes, that's the proposal thats on the table. As far as revealing my source.....You've got a better shot at finding Jimmy Hoffa's body.
  10. I doubt that the All A has much of a shot. I don't think the crowds will support having it there.
  11. $50,000 offered to the Region and to be divided according to a vote by ALL member schools. Would you feel the same if the arena were in Barbourville?
  12. I have read every single comment posted. I understand both sides. However, I have to wonder if this would even be a debate if the Arena were located in Barbourville, Pineville, London, or Williamsburg? Also, if you look at every region across the board...most of them play in a neutral site. I don't think Madison Central has an advantage by playing at EKU or Rowan Co. has an advantage playing at Morehead State. Next, every school will receive a cut from the tourney being held at the Arena. This is a great benefit to everyone. How much of the Regional money has Red Bird, OBI, or Williamsburg received from the region in the past 25 years. I don't know the total, but I dare say "Not much." Furthermore, the CFIT will not be held at the Arena. Its simply too expensive for a tournament that is designed to be a fundraiser. The Hounds will only play there if they make the Regional and its held at the Arena. As for Harlan Co...they don't want to be in the 13th Region anyway. They were denied a petition to move to the 14th. Finally, ask any A.D. in the region how much work it takes to break even during a regional tournament? I can understand the skepticism, but I think we have to give it a chance. If its good enough for Alan Jackson...its good enough for me.
  13. You make a really good point about running away with it in the 2nd half. I did see a difference in the teams...especially on the glass. I'm not sure that the result would have been any different either, but I do think that injuries hurt the Hounds. I can assure you that if Hendrickson and Smith had been 100% the rebounding margin would have been a little different and we would have probably seen a more competitive game in the second half. At the end of the day...Eastern is hardcore. Even as Redhound I loved the way they battled on the boards (Almost reminded me of a Tom Izzo team). When you clean the glass like they do you don't have to shoot well from the outside. Finally, I usually pull against teams from Louisville simply because I don't like the way they play. I may have to change this year. Good luck Saturday night.
  14. Corbin had its share of injurise yesterday. It's unbelievable to go an entire season injury free and then have 2 of your top 6 get hurt at the Sweet 16. Congratulations to Eastern...They are a heck of a team. I just hate that they didn't get the Redhounds "A" game last night. The result may not have been any different, but its so difficult to make it as far as these young men did only to face a great team and be "injury-bitten" on the same day.
  15. Crawford is 100%. I agree that his numbers may appear to be low for such a high-profile player. However, he does things that don't show up in the box scores. In fact, I would like him to be more selfish sometimes.
  16. This is my 20th Sweet 16. I missed a few in high school and college, but have picked right back up where my dad started me at the age of 6. I have a ton of great memories, but its hard to top Richie Farmer vs Alan Houston. I still don't think I have ever seen two better offensive performances in the same game.
  17. Game won't be a blow-out. Teams are too solid both ways for it to get out of hand.
  18. You raise a very valid point. I for some reason think that they remove a couple of pieces of the court to make it the appropriate length. I could be nuts....Anyone know for sure? (About the court, not whether I'm nuts!!!)
  19. Eastern may very well win, but to say Corbin is overrated is nonsense. They are one the best teams in the state or we wouldn't even have this thread. No one dominates a Steve Wright coached team the way Corbin did last night without being solid offensively and defensively. There should be no talk of anyone in the Sweet 16 being overrated. Each and every one of the teams playing at Rupp is good or they wouldn't be there.
  20. It's not often that I gloat, but....YEAH BABY!!!!
