  1. First, give credit where credit is due. A few years ago Williamsburg executed their gameplan and Corbin didn't. They won fair and square. Next, I don't feel Corbin has anything to prove to Williamsburg. In my opinion, redemption would be beating NCC in the playoffs not beating the Jackets. Also, I think Corbin fans feel like the Hounds would beat the Jackets most of the time. Would you expect anything else? The Jackets wouldn't go into a game thinking they were going to lose so what's the difference? Finally, saying that Corbin gets credit for things they don't accomplish is a little bit of a stretch. If the Hounds do get credit for anything other than winning district, regional, or state titles then I can assure you that its meaningless to Redhound fans and players.
  2. You're probably right. It may be a little longer than 2010.
  3. Corbin just needs to learn how to manage a lead appropriately. Its harder that you may think. Besides having one of the best coaches in the state (Steve Wright) on the other bench makes it even tougher. Also, I noticed a comment about the possibility of having the regional tournament at the new civic center in Corbin. I understand that it may be hard to believe, but I actually think it would be beneficial. Its my understanding that they have offered the region a sizeable sum just for having the tournament there. This would be especially enticing to schools that do not have adequate facilities for hosting the tournament. Besides, even if you do have a gym big enough for the region it takes a lot of work just to break even.
  4. I don't think the previous transfers of the Lawsons will have any effect on the current chances for a Corbin vs. Whitley matchup. I'm sure that there always will be some hard-feelings about kids who leave a program and move to another which is understandable. However, I think the biggest pitfall in regard to actually seeing them take the field is scheduling. If you look at Corbin's schedule there are really only three or four possible dates that could work. I don't see removing South from the schedule. It's too big of a gate for both schools. North is a possibility and Bethlehem will not be on the schedule again. Other than that the only other two spots would be that of LCA and Somerset. I'm not sure what the contract looks like with LCA and Somerset is a traditional rival. With that being said, the Bethlehem spot is probably the most likely. Its early in the season and was a replacement for Bell Co. I wouldn't discount the possibility of a Whitley vs. Corbin matchup as soon as 2010. Finally, I would not look for Corbin to play Bell as long as Jewell and Hilton are the coaches. Sad, but true.
  5. Corbin and Whitley traditionally have not played because the Whitley Co. program wasn't the rising star it has been over the past decade or so. I wouldn't rule out seeing this matchup in the next couple of years. I know there will be those who will say one is afraid to play the other. However, I have seen both of these teams play several times over the past few years and I don't think either one of the current Coaches (and definately not the players) would have any reservations about lining up against the other.
