Congrats to Cody Miller from Knox Central he had great high school career

:thumb: He certainly did. I really felt for him, fouling out in his final game in the closing minute. It was interesting to see Matt St. John from South Laurel hugging and consoling him after the game.

Knox Central had control of this game for the most part, but Gilbert hit some big shots for South Laurel to keep them in the game.

I thought Knox caught a couple of bad breaks with a little less than a minute to play. They were down by two and Broughton(I think it was him)drove into the lane and appeared to clearly get fouled by St. John on the shot, but there was no call and one of the big kids for Knox Central got the rebound over Sanders, but was called for going over the back from the official out past the 3 point line. Sanders then calmly hit the 2 FT's and put South Laurel up two possessions. I didn't have a great view on the foul call, although it was better than the view of the official who called it, but the KC kid is about 6'5" and Sanders may be 5'8" and it looked like he just went up over him instead of over his back and would have had an easy put back to tie the game. It may not have mattered, but looked like a very tough call against Knox Central.

Anyone else have a good view of it?

From my angle, I thought it was a good call. I wasn't sure on the no call on St. John, .. thought it could have gone either way.

A real good game, I thought KC was going to pull it out. The free throw line killed them. It was a (bad bad bad)foul Milller went out on, just grabbed the South's players arm almost a full court away from South's basket, hard to figure. To me KC looked to be well coached and they sure didn't catch any type breaks on a couple of calls late in the game, but if they hit their ft those calls don't hurt them. KC has the potential to be pretty good next year. South and North in this setting should be fun on Sat.

4chs,

It was over the back easily. I do think St. John fouled Broughton, but it was over the back. Ref made the right call. Doesn't matter where a ref is positioned, you see it, you call it. Bottom line, Central led 30-22 with 7:24 left when St. John sit out the rest of the third quarter and Knox was then outscored, 14-10. If you can't take advantage of that situation, you're in trouble.

Matthew St. John is a good kid, glad to hear that he can show this empathy for his opponent.:thumb:

From were I was I agree it should have been a putback, not an over the back foul, the kid from KC was about a foot taller and the player from South didn't attempt a block out. One of the non-breaks I was talking about, should have been no call there, but this one play didn't cost KC the game.

It sounds like Sanders just used proper fundamentals and blocked out the bigger kid, forcing him to go over him for the rebound. I could not tell for sure where I was at and apparently the official that make the call had a better look than me.............or maybe just better eyesight.

Been wrong many times but it looked to me like he was just standing there, not in a good block out position at all, the big boy was behind him but not over him, your eyes may be better than you think.

What impressed me was that Sanders missed 2 FTs that would have made it a 2 possession game. The next trip down, same opportunity, and hit nailed them. Good composure for a freshman to have a short memory and come thru in the clutch. KC let this one get away from them.

It was easily a foul. Count this as one of the times you are wrong. St. John fouled Broughton, the kid easily went over the back. Like I said before, you get outscored 14-10 while St. John sits out for over seven minutes and you're already ahead 30-22 then you lost a golden opportunity to put the game away.
