Hounds by 12, Wilson just too much for SL's guards

At first glance, it seems like this could be a lopsided Corbin victory; since Christmas, their point totals in home games go: 70, 88, 69, 74, 79, & 89. It's hard to argue against Corbin being on fire at the moment. By comparison, South Laurel has totaled: 56, 40, 46, & 60 points in away games.

 

However, this is a rivalry game between two teams with long histories against each other. South only lost to Corbin by 1 earlier in the year at South Laurel, and proved that they could play their style and pace (55-56).

 

South has flown under the radar somewhat this year, and having seen them win the Corbin game when they've been somewhat written off essentially means I just can't overcome the intuition that they're going to play this game with an extra sense of urgency.

 

A good showing tonight just seems to be more important to them from this point forward, so I'll go against the trend and take South by 1, 58-57. This game has always been a tricky one for me to predict, so I wouldn't be shocked if I'm way off with this one either.

Wilson is uncanny at getting to the rim. With his skill set, if he was, say 6'2" or 6'3" instead of 5'10", what kind of looks we he be getting at the next level?

I expect a very good game. Wish I could go to this one. Hope I am wrong and the Cardinals pull it out, but at Corbin will be a tough row to hoe!

If Corbin is to win this game, someone other than Johnson, Wilson and Manns will have to hit some shots. South Laurel will be physical with Wilson and try to prevent him from having the ball in his hands as much as possible. This should open up opportunities for Smith to create and either score or set up others. They will also make it extremely difficult for Johnson to get open looks and will basically leave one or two Corbin players open on the outside. If someone else can't hit from 15 feet on out other than Wilson and Johnson, Corbin will have a hard time scoring much more than 50 points.
