  1. I didnt see it posted on the KDE or KHSAA site. With it being this late in the year, they could just do an 'interim' thing with somebody in house, or be looking at qualified assistants from other programs. I wouldn't think too many head coaches would be leaving for another position this late in the year, unless maybe they are due to retire and just coach, not teach.
  2. I was looking at their roster and did they not have any seniors on their '08 team? I remember back when this program got going back in the '90s. From the pictures of the facilities it definately doesnt look like they are lacking in support, then again, it's in Pike County. This should be a great gig for somebody.
  3. That Fayette invitational looks real enticing. Where are those games being played? All in the same day?
  4. Forgive me, but not sure I understand.
  5. Since he took the Campbellsville job, he will have to leave that teaching position open.
  6. I couldn't agree more. I do think they are fun for the kids, though, and can be helpful for those younger, inexperienced kids. You know, the first week or two after school is out for the summer, having three or four evenings against other teams. Those guys that go to two or three a week, and all day Saturday events for practically the whole month of June can have it.
  7. I'm a believer of the weight room, to an extint. A lot of it just boils down to whether you can play or you can't. Period. For example, the 4 best football players that I ever played with, high school and college combined, never touched a weight; and it wasn't that they were exactly ridiculously talented, either. A couple of them had really good speed, a couple others didnt, none were overly strong either----but, all four of them could just flat out play. And, that's what matters.
  8. Rodney Turpin-Taylor Co Jonathan Whitlow-Green County Robbie Coffman- Central Hardin Alan Short- Adair County Zack Massengill-Boyle County Brian Rowland-Mercer County
  9. What does Whitaker teach at Powell? Weightlifting?
  10. No you dont and good luck trying to tell Bullitt East, Bell County, Beechwood and even Highlands that. All of whom were playing for and/or won state championshis this year. None of them were complicated in their schemes; offensively or defensely. I'll give you another one even closer to home, Larry French was and is a KISS guy (Keep it Simple Stupid). Marty Jaggers was that way at Lincoln and so was Larry Phillips. The three most successful coaches in Lincoln history all believed in the basics and doing them well. It sickens me to watch teams that dont have the numbers and/or talent try to look like the NY Giants. You dont need 20 different formations and 20 different plays.
  11. Did Whitaker do the weightlifting classes at Powell?
  12. I hate to hear that for any team. Pro plays with 14-17 year old kids? Something will have to give. Less is more. Now, if you have the luxuries of a St. X, Trinity, LexCath, etc. then you can do a lot more, but the only reason that they do more is because their kids only practice/play on one side of the ball. That's a big factor. Even with those luxuries, those guys follow the KISS method (Keep It Simple-Stupid), have a handfull or two of things they do well and roll with it. Good luck to Lincoln County this year. I hope to see Settles get them back on track from last year.
  13. What's Harrison Co.'s schedule looking like the next couple years. I heard that changes were made with that also.
  14. I wouldn't mess with playing either if I was him, Pre-Med? Wow. Impressive. If he can operate, diagnose, etc in his years to come like he did throwing a football, then he'll be just fine.
  15. No current head coaches have applied? This sounds really strange comming from a very respected program. Has things hit that hard at rock bottom in Cynthiana?
  16. This looks to be like a classic case of. "Well, they are students first, and athletes second." But are in fact looked at as "Athletes first, students second." What a crock. I'm willing to bet that if you take the discipline reports/referrals and G.P.A's of the football players their at Berea, and compare that to 30-40 other kids, ones that don't do jack squat, I bet the football kids blow them out of the water in terms of how well they do. Lastly, maybe you should voice your concern to the coach(es) personally, instead of calling out 14-17 year old kids with an anonymous name, on a public message board. This kind of stuff makes me want to puke.
  17. I dont think you can fault him for taking off LexCath, more than anything, because them being in the same region and playing in the playoffs is very likely (like last year). Did he "Drop" Rock and Marion or was it just a conflict of scheduling from both schools? What is their non district schedule next year while that topic is being brought up?
  18. What did he teach at Harrison County? Anybody have new pics of the new stadium/facility? I've heard about it, just haven't seen any lay outs of it.
  19. I didn't see them play against one another. I saw Glasgow/Green Co. and Green/Monroe (playoffs). 27 is a speedstar, you are correct. But, I'm talking about overall "speed", in all of it's variations, at all positions, including linemen. Like I said, it doesn't always mean that the fastests are the better teams. I am taking anything away from Monroe County this year. They had a very special team and I was pulling for them whole heartedly to make it to Louisville once they got deep in the playoffs.
  20. Any new names surfacing? When are they supposed to "open" the job back up again? I just want Glasgow to regain and build onto their great tradition; dragging this out into more of a soap opera isn't going to help (not meaning to point out the obvious).
  21. I think it is. You think it's not. I'm not right. You're not wrong. :idunno:
  22. Yes, Hammons was at Mercer Co. before Jaggers took over. He was the head man for 5 or 6 years. Has been the D-Coordinator for Anderson County the last few years.
  23. Trouble in paradise for Stepp at Harrison? Interesting that he applied. I guess maybe he saw something in playing Franklin County comming up in the next years that he may not have at Harrison?
