  1. If they lined up v.s those teams and competed in a track meet, Glasgow would win easily. That's the talent factor and Glasgow has that edge, but that's nothing new. They've had that edge over lots of people for years, some ending better than others. However, we all know talent a lone doesn't make you the best football team.
  2. What is the stipend at Campbellsville? Curious to know.
  3. Were they? I apologize. I was just going along with what falcon said, and giving a some possible rhyme behind the reason. I have seen that with other teams in the past.
  4. Their varsity struggled b/c they were extremely young this year in a lot of key spots. Given that fact, their J.V struggled. They were playing a varsity schedule with kids, that in most years, would have been playing J.V.
  5. Correct. As long as it is a better move for him and his family, then it's greener pastures. Secondly to add to yours Wishes, just because a school might be smaller in class size, doesn't mean it's not a better situation---not in the least.
  6. Stop somebody. They gave up the most points of any school in 3A last year, and still finished 8-4. Just think what they could have done if that number had been cut down by half, or even a 3rd. Then you're probably looking at an 11-1 to 12-2 type season. They had as much talent as anybody last year, except for Lou. Central.
  7. The next three years they should be in the mix for sure.
  8. A good stipend. Total control over the football program, meaning Little League too, and a gravy train teaching job during the football season (ex:only a couple classes, lunchroom duty, weightlifting class(s) and maybe I.S.S. A combination of those) Those three intangibles would draw people back to it, regardless of what's happened.
  9. Campbellsville should always be competitive in 1A. They have the talent to do it alone. Some years will obvioulsy be better than others, but they should be competitive every year. I think they return a very good Senior class for the '09 season, but after that, it drops off A BUNCH. At least that is the word on the street. I don't think Campbellsville's middle school won a game this year. What about the South Laurel job? Within or outside? What's their future look like?
  10. Great point! :thumb:I've never thought about that before. Knowing that makes any speculation of decreasing the classes even more interesting.
  11. I went from 1987-2006 looking at the past state champs. In those 20 years, there were never more than 2 schools to repeat at the same time in 4 classes. The first 2 years of 6 classes, 5 out of the 6 have gone back-to-back.(A man can only watch the Grammy's for so long with his wife before he has to get up for a while and do something else! j/k) Nobody take this personal, because it's not meant in those regards, not in the least. Just facts. I'm just curious to see how long KY will be in a six class system, especially if all five of the past years winners end up a 3 peat or even 4/6 of the teams. (
  12. I completely agree. I've never said anything about them not working hard, nor have I even thought that or would I ever. My feelings come from nothing, but remembering how it was with 4 classes and with the exception of 4A (Trinity and St.X), there was always a little mystery as to who would make it to Louisivlle and win it. Sure, everybody had their preseason picks, like we all still do with 6 classes----but, there's no mystery now, IMHO, like there was for all those years (for 3 out of the 4 classes at least). I think Beechwood will 3 Peat in 1A. I'm not sure about 2A, however, I will go as far to say that Ft. Campbell and NewCath will be playing in the title game again. Louisville Central will win 3A until they get tired of it. 4A is the most fun to watch and wonder about, because the West is wide open and on the eastside, it's going to be Bell County, LexCath or Boyle every year. In 5A, Highlands (see Louisville Central). In 6A, well, I'll give you two guesses. This year made 5 teams that went back-to-back. Just wondering, but I'm curious as to when the last time 3 out of the 4 teams in the old classification went back to back? Honest question, no sarcasm intended.
  13. I don't have "a team". Are there a few teams and coaches that I particular like more? Sure, for nothing more than the fact that I know them and being close friends. Me not liking 6 classes has nothing to do with "my team" (in my case, teams) winning/not winning state titles.
  14. Central will 3 peat, but they wont be the only ones. I remember back in the good ole' days (prior to the 2007 season) when going 'back-to-back' was something rare, at least in most classes, and 3 peating was just unheard of for the most part. Six classes is a joke.
  15. I once heard that the pay scale for head coaches in the county wasn't all that great, compared to what it should be anyway? 7 or 8K a year seem to be in the right ballpark?
  16. Is Boyle playing Warren Central again in them and BG's bowl game?
  17. I've heard that before myself. I could be wrong, but I've heard from very reliable sources that the head coaching stipends for all three Warren County schools is around the 8K range, which isn't much at all in the first place, let a lone for how large those schools all are.
  18. I'm football through and through, but I also love basketball and baseball. Personally, I love the idea. What I would love even more is if the whole entire month of June was dead for all sports. Kids need to be kids these days. If there is anybody that is a firm believer of hard work, it's me. But theres a difference between hard work and border line craziness. In some of your smaller schools and districts, where kids not only want to play multiple sports but in order for their school to have maximum success, the best ahthletes play them all (football, basketball, baseball/track). They go from mid-July with football up until the beginning of June typically with baseball and track. Give them the month off. They are 13-17 years old in most cases. Let them spend time with their families, get a summer job to put a little money in their pocket, go on vacations, go fishing and basically---be a kid, like they are. I think all of us, whether we are parents or coaches, forget that sometimes. It's honest to goodness getting to be a joke. More than not, a large part of success just boils down to who is just better--who has the better God gifted talent. You either can or you can't. It doesn't have diddly to with getting 20 7 on 7's games in June, or the fact that your basketball and baseball team played 25 games over the span of three weeks in June.
  19. When is the new South Warren supposed to be opening? What class would they be?
  20. You're right. Didn't mean to leave those out. I just mentioned the "sure things". I'd be shocked to see Bell repeat, just because of having LexCath and Boyle to fend off, but it will rotate amonst those three schools. Ft. Campbell. Man, isn't this a great story for these kids? I actually woud like to see them 3-peat. Those kids deserve the world on a platter for everything that their families have to go through during these times. Bless everyone of them. Something tells me that somebody else will take over 2A. Maybe NewCath? Danville? Corbin? Yep. It's already gotten old. I'm bored.
  21. Shaun Alexander did at Boone Co. in '94. Jeremy Simpson of Lincoln County in '93. Both of them had over 3,000 on the year. I also believe both ended up winning KY's Mr. Football if memory serves me correct?
  22. Highlands will 3 peat. Central will 3 Peat. Beechwood will 3 peat. Trinity already has, haven't they? Mark it down. 4 out of 6 classes will have 3 peats. I remember back to the old way when it was something unreal to have a ONE team go back-to-back out of the four. Now, we are looking at the very, very good possibility and likelyhood of 4 teams going for a three peat? Come on now.
  23. They were a power in the 80's too. They just happened to play 2nd and 3rd fiddle to a couple schools called Mayfield and Ft. Knox in their hay days.
  24. I'm looking forward to the change. For one, I think it will be a better atmosphere for the kids and the fans watching. At Papa Johns, you could have a decent crowd (5-10,000) and at times it's as if nobody is there. With the move to WKU, I think the games will be more 'electric' I guess you could say. The stadium is right on top of the field and still plenty big enough to host a big time game of a St. X and Trinity. Isn't the capacity around 25,000 now? Plus, for those of you that haven't been, Bowling Green is one heck of a town. I don't think anybody will be dissapointed.
