People saying that teams should "never" be bad or "always" be good because they are a 5A school or a 6A school is ludacris. Sure, they have more students to choose from but who says those students are good athletes or athletic at all? I mentioned in another thread that Dunbar should be good in basketball. This is not only because they have 2200 students to choose from but it has been proven in years past in all sports that in amongst their 2200, there are some dang good athletes!!!

No one ever said that Anderson was not good. I gave the coaches a compliment by saying that they do more with less talent year in and year out than any team Ive seen. Year in and year out, Anderson County competes with and beats a team like Shelby County who has MUCH more talent. If you dont believe Shelby County has MUCH more talent and athletes than Anderson County then youve lost it. Last season was the 1st season in a long time that Anderson County had athletes and talent that equalled Shelby County and you see what happened...Anderson was 3-0 vs. the Rockets. This season, Anderson County didnt belong on the floor with Shelby(athlete and talent wise) yet they were very competitive both games this season including a 32-30 defeat and a district championship that was even until Anderson lost their point guard to a broken leg. So what your saying is that schools like Waggener, South Oldham, Grant Co, J-town, Barren Co, Covington Scott, Mercer Co, Montgomery Co, Bullitt Central, Clay Co and Grayson Co should never be BAD in any sport because they are 5A?

Bryan Hyatt, Anderson County High School, he does a tremendous job for Coach Glenn Drury and the Bearcats. He is an assistant that should be able to climb the ranks in KY coaching.

The top assistant at neighboring Anderson County, Bryan Hyatt. Anderson County does more with less talent than almost any school in the state year in and year out. The coaches over there have to know and be doing something right over there. Imagine what a good, knowledgable coach could do with 2200 students to choose from?

The problem with having juniors on JV is they take away learning opportunities from younger players. A junior that is on a senior heavy team may just have to accept the role of being on the bench a lot until their senior season. You have to remember they have already had two years of JV experience. A younger player, even one who is not as good, must be in on JV over a junior to simply get the experience and learning opportunities they need. Besides, juniors who beat up on freshman pitching aren't learning anything thing new and rarely do they benefit (baseball wise) from playing JV.

The fact is when he had players he won. He had a good stretch of talent and Grant won. Since they haven't had much. I'm sorry I am not trying to talk about kids here but to say he can't coach is just plain silly. He had 1 real nice team that got beat in the regional finals by Oldham. All the other stuff I don't know about or care really but to say he can't coach is to much.

It wasnt a blowout, but the fact that Christian Co traveled ALL THE WAY accross the state to go to Shelby Valley and beat Shelby Valley on their home floor is a VERY IMPRESSIVE win!!!

Yes, Ligon was the head coach at Shelby for a couple/three years in the early 2000's. Had a couple good team including Silverhorn and Daniels.

Believe it or not since Highlands won the Championship in 2008 LCA coaches have visited with Highlands in the winter to meet about schemes, in the off-season to watch the conditioning program, in the spring to watch spring practice, and to at least one or two summer practices. Coach Mueller and Coach Weinrich have been very gracious and helpful in their dealings with LCA. Believe it or not they don't think they have a secret formula as far as scheme and drills. Their secret formula is committment and hard work, which they know only a select few teams will buy into. Therefore they are not scared to share with those willing to listen. You all have a great staff, great kids, and in my opninion are the model program in KY.

I know an associate head coach at a neighboring county has applied. He has help lead his respective school in one of the biggest turnarounds in 5a football over the last several years. He also had a very successful stint as the head coach at Mercer County High School. This candidate is very worthy of consideration for this job. He would be a great hire for Woodford County.
