jc42 Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Released on Friday. The Administration wants to take the program in a new direction.
RoundBallFanatic Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 This is getting to be a little ridiculous. What is that now 4 coaches gone in the short time that they have been a school? Any coach would have to think long and hard about this situation before being committed to a place that seems to have a hard time committing to their coaches.
FarBeyondDriven Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Released on Friday. The Administration wants to take the program in a new direction.North Oldham High School has only been around for about 7-8 years. This will make the fourth or fifth time that the Administration has wanted to take the program in a new direction. They will have a hard time achieving any sustained success with a revolving coaching door. Best of luck to Coach Edelen.
ColonelMike Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Not really an administration issue. And previous coaches have not been removed to "take the program in a new direction." In fact, only one previous coach was removed. First coach: Gene Heffington - he was the school's first AD, and only took the job the first year to get the program up and going, which was also the case for the first football coach, Beno Chappell. Second coach: Dicky Beal - only a part-time employee; led the Mustangs for one season. Third coach: Derek Walcott - removed before the end of the third season due to charges of misconduct. Fourth Coach: Danny Edelen - Coached for four seasons. Edited March 8, 2010 by nWo Per member request.
Plato Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Wow. I'm shocked and surprised by this one. What direction is the school wanting to go? :ohbrother:
fastpitchfan Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I'm surprised. I thought Edelen did a nice job with them.
SCRockets Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Maybe he should try not recruiting at his next job.

WalterSobchak Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Just from an outsider looking in, it looks like there is too many parents that have power or a great deal of influence on the administration.
ColonelMike Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Just from an outsider looking in, it looks like there is too many parents that have power or a great deal of influence on the administration. What makes you say that? I don't go to North, have a kid there, or even live in North's district, but I'm around their program a lot with the PSN broadcasts. Haven't seen anything to make me think the parents are overbearing at all.
ColonelMike Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 What is the ISSUE? It really isn't appropriate for me to discuss publicly unless my name is Tom Clemons (the North A.D.) or Danny Edelen (the former coach). (neither fits) I'm good friends with Danny and I've covered North Oldham sports ever since the school opened, and I'm aware of the concerns the school had. But it's not my place to discuss someone else's personnel issues in public.
