Yes it did. Breathitt is 1-2 Estill 3-0. Breathitt has played a tough schedule though losing to Prestonsburg and Johnson Central and beating Boyd. Estill has blown out Pineville, Powell County, and Bourbon County.

I agree, how could Stenzel not be on that list? You don't have to attend his camp to be rated, but it certainly helps.

The score was 28-6 at the half. Now why would Boyd have their J.V. in the game in the first half? Obviously they didn't. Boyd just ran into a buzzsaw plain and simple. I didn't see any J.V. players in the game in the first half or even early in the second for Boyd, but I do know Breathitt substituted liberally in the second half or it would have been worse, and I'm a Boyd County fan.

I think it'll be closer than most think. Breathitt 35 Estill 21. Would love to see this game at Estill, but I think home field helps the Bobcats.

Montgomery should win this one, but it will be a lot closer than most would have thought at the beginning of the season. Montgomery has got to get something going on offense or Bourbon could pull an upset.

Coach C was dismissed not long into his second year as a principal at the middle school. Not sure what he's doing now, don't think he's in anything dealing with education.

Bath's freshman class could have been a lot better but pretty much got neglected last year at the middle school level and all the attention given to the much mentioned 7th grade which is right now a great class, however you must remember two of the main kids in the seventh grade class have also been held back a year, one of them two years and that makes a big difference at the middle school level. I agree the the high school staff at Bath is not getting the most out of the talent they have coming through there. Bath shouldn't be losing by 25 points to Prestonburg. Not with Metz, Mabry, Boyd, Terry...they have the players.

This is the second of three grueling games for the Lions, and another tough contest for the Bobcats. On paper this one looks pretty close, so I'm going to go with home field since the Lions have to travel quite a ways down into the mountains to face a pretty tough and hungry Bobcat team. This should be a close one, Tater's loser... Boyd County 28-21.

Montgomery plays at Woodford this Friday, so that will shake out the district a little. I think B. S. is much improved and Ashland is hard to get a read on. I know J.C. had a good win to start the year, not sure what they did this past week though.

I think the biggest thing helping Estill is they finally have some stability with the head Coach. Coach Tiller has been there for a few seasons now, and they've had several solid years in a row instead of being up and down. They'll miss the Christopher kid, but Cackling is very solid player and they should be competitive in the 14th.

Speaking of J.C., Ryandamaste5, do you think any of the district teams, Station, Montgomery, Ashland, or Woodford have made up any ground on Johnson Central this year?

You're right, both the kids I mentioned are sophomores this coming year. My mistake.

True, but you have to admit Montgomery has had a heck of a run in softball over the past 5 years in the 10th.

The kid from Lawrence County, Chandler Burton I think, he was very good in the state tournament last spring, and Tyler Arthur from Boyd County is a tall lanky pitcher that throws in the low 80's and pitched well against Lawrence County this year before tearing his hamstring later in the season.

Montgomery just keeps churning out good female athletes. I don't see the basketball falling off at all. They have solid kids coming out of the middle school program and most of the girls in the county play more than one sport. Montgomery dominates the 10th in softball as much as they do in girl's basketball.

Wonder what happened to the guy that said Bourbon had the athletes to play with Estill this year? Go 'Neers!!!!

I've seen both teams play, P-burg will win by at least 3 touchdowns. Bath basically has the same players as well just a year older without Clemons so that argument doesn't really hold up. Bath played well against Lewis last week, P-burg is definately not Lewis County.

Heber would probably make the drive in a golf cart! Lee County has produced several good players and later on coaches over the years; Heber, Larry Stamper, Russell Stamper, Elwood Daugherty, David Jennings and others. They've had some really good baseball players come out of there as well. Oh and Menifee County does not have a stop light either.

They were winning a little bit under Dan Gooch and then he went to Montgomery for some reason. I've never really heard why he left other than to possibly move closer to his wife's family. Seems they've struggled since he left.

I saw both scrimmages as well and Boyd did alright, but it's hard to tell where a team is out when you take out turnovers, change of possession, special teams etc. It was the opinion in my section of the bleachers at Belfry that Boyd's biggest weakness this year would be the D-line, which will spell disaster against a team like Russell. I hope I'm wrong though! Go Lions!

I'll probably go watch Breathitt and Boyd County next weekend and will have a better idea of what chance the Engineers have in the district. I think they'll be more competitive with Breathitt this year, but not sure they can beat them.

True, but Estill also returns pretty much their entire team other than QB. And they did go 9-2 last season.
