Wow, tough luck for a great kid. Really going to hurt Montgomery, he was having a solid season.

I have to disagree on these last two posts, a week ago everyone was talking about what a good move it was putting Wilson at tailback where he ran for over 100 yards, and Arthur at QB where he threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third, now a week later everyone is complaining about the change. Neither QB had more than a second to throw the ball, which is mainly to blame for Wilson throwing two really bad picks. Again, imo if Boyd's line play doesn't get better, it won't matter if Brady, Manning, or Favre are back there, Boyd is going to struggle. Now I do agree they need to stop splitting time at QB, but Wilson is a fantastic runner and athlete, and imo should be running the ball.

Any thoughts on this one? Both coming off losses.

Good win for the Wildcats, have a big one coming up with Fairview. Should be a good one. Both teams are on a roll right now.

Good win for the Eagles, and the Bath/Fairview game should be a good one. After watching Boyd last night, I think Fairview could catch them sleeping if Boyd doesn't come to play.

Wow, didn't get to go to this game, instead went to Ashland/Boyd thinking this one would be an absolute blowout. Did get updates during the game and couldn't believe Paris was in this one at all. Good showing by the Greyhounds, and nice survive and move on win for Montgomery.

Your quote about the lines is absolutely correct. This game was won and dominated in the trenches. I would hope Evans and his offensive and defensive line coaches will show the Ashland linemen on film as a study session. Ashland exploded on the snap, Boyd's linemen stand straight up and get blown off the ball. Great win for the Tomcats, I think they'll upset Woodford next week and finish second in that district which is impressive.

After watching Ashland last night I'll say the Tomcats 21-14 at home. Woodford has an explosive offense but I think Ashland's team speed will win out. 2 weeks ago I would have taken the Yellowjackets in this one, but not now, Ashland is really coming together and may finish 2nd in the district.

No shame that Berea lost this game, Estill is a really good football team this year.

I'm not so sure he wouldn't be the starter if he had remained at Montgomery. Has a much better arm than the current QB.

I've said all season that Boyd's defense is it's achilles right now. Their offense can score on anybody but their D-line especially seems to get pushed around too much. The two games I've seen, the D-line is getting pushed back 2-3 yards on just about every snap before making a play, this is a recipe for disaster against a team like Ashland that likes to run it down your throat. I hope Boyd comes out fired up, fires off the ball and stays low instead of immediately standing up on the snap.

Should be a good game. I'm gonna say Bath 28-20. Powell is better this year.

It has to be Montgomery big in this one, a 5A school against a somewhat weak 1A shouldn't be a game. Never can tell though. I say Montgomery by 4 td's.

Actually, the Arthur kid is from Ashland originally, moved to Mt. Sterling, then went back to Ashland when he felt he wouldn't get an opportunity to play quarterback at Montgomery. Tough loss for Montgomery with him.

Boyd County does have the best player on the field in Wilson, and now with the emergence of the Arthur kid at quarterback, he's even more dangerous because Boyd can move Wilson around at running back and receiver. Ashland now has to prep for a running QB, and a throwing QB. The Daily Independent had a good article about the Boyd/Lawrence game and said that even with Arthur being "green" and not getting a lot of snaps he played really well and he's only going to get better with playing time. Arthur adds a whole new dimension to the Boyd attack with his throwing ability. This should be a heck of a game at Putnam. I can't wait to see it!

I wouldn't pencil Estill in to beat Harlan Central, but I also think it's time for some of you guys to give Estill some props for how tough they played Breathitt, AT Breathitt.

Good question above. Shouldn't the P.A. guys show some impartiality during play by play description. We all pay to attend the games and support the home school with our concession purchases. Aren't we entitled to game annoucing that is at best at tolerable? Granted, the home press box can and should have enthusiam for their their team but they need to serve the entire crowd.

Just to add fuel to the fire with the tide turning conversation, Boyd County's J.V. also beat Russell earlier in the year. Not as bad as Ashland beat them though.

I'll stick with S.V. by a touchdown then. This is always a long, tough trip for Bath.
