This shoul be a great high school basketball game. I wish I could see it. I'll take Ballard by 8.

I think they will regroup and win this on fairly easily, say 15-20 points.

It was at the 31 minute, 59.4 seconds when it ended for Clark earlier in the season. Those last couple of seconds against Henry Clay have been tough for the 10th region teams. We get to try them again next week hopefully it will be a different outcome.

Ballard was impressive. They are quick, shoot the 3 well and made their free throws. GRC didn't have their A game but tonight it probably wouldn't have made a difference. Zollo had his best game in awhile but it wasn't enough. Very nice crowd considering the snow, I was surprised.

I noticed some of that in the GRC game other night. Just figured it was due to the big game but maybe there is and undercurrent. In particular I noticed Pawsat and Setty in a timeout after Setty had made a bad play, they seemed a little heated. Again it was probaly just the intensity of the game. In general I don't think kids today are as tight as teammates as they used to be. I think where they play so much AAU ball, sometimes on different teams, and have different personal agendas that the teams don't have the chemistry of a few years ago. Also as someone else said the Mason kids have more than games going on right now. They are a quality program and will figure it out and be a tough out for anyone come tourney time.

People like Mr. Murphy are the backbone, heart and soul of youth athletic programs everywhere. I am sure he will be greatly missed. My condolances to his family and friends.

Didn't realize that. I guess his players did need some consoling at that point, two losses in a row at home had to be painful.

Not a jump stop, talking about everytime he makes a move while dribbling he puts his hand under the ball and carries it. Every single time!

Zollo picked up the towel and flicked it toward the Mason bench. Pawset was walking out to get the towel at the same moment. The towel never touched him as it went over his head. I don't think Zollo ever saw him as he was staring at the inbounder. Pawset did take offense and glared at Zollo. If O'Hearn is the great coach he needs to count his timeouts a little better and make sure his players know they are out also.

Now if those same officials that called 5 fouls on Setty called him for carrying the ball.....

Tough contest and a good win. Mason will still be a tough out in the regional. Let's face it neither team may get out of the regional that is why you play the games. Gilbert getting hurt definitely effected the game. GRC did not have their best game tonight but Mason played with a lot of heart. I was not very impressed with Setty tonight and I know he was sick. He can score but doesn't look like he wants to play both ends of the court. He also carries the ball a lot when he is handling the ball. He is going to have to work on that or the college refs will eat him up. Thought the Mason crowd would have been bigger also. Lots of empty seats. And by the way the popcorn as usual was nothing special.

All I can say is wow! But that is why you play the game and not just on paper because on any given night any given team can win that one special time.

You do have to feel sorry for him because it has been a rough stretch. I have been surprised all basketball season at how everyone is pushing for him to get back on the basketball court this season. I know Mason has has something special happening with the basketball team for the last few years and I am sure he wants to be a part of it again in his last year, but everything I hear on him says that his athletic future after high school is playing football. So why risk it? Take the time off get completely healthy and see where football leads him. I just hope getting back on the basketball court is what he wants and not what everyone else wants for him. Either way he deserves a change in luck with his knees and I hope it works out for him.

The 1951 championship team was from the old Clark County High which was a state power under Coach Letcher Norton for years. The city also had a Winchester High. When the schools merged in the 1960's the school was named George Rogers Clark so as not to favor either of the two schools. The locals first started using the formal name of the new school, George Rogers Clark or GRC, to distinguish the new Clark County High from the old Clark County High. And the usuage continues to this day. Almost all locals, graduates, etc. use and prefer the name GRC.

' I for one thought the old gym was an OK venue. I did find it a bit much that in order to go to the restroom all the GRC fans had to walk literally in front of the Lexington Catholic bench. I tought about stopping and joining the huddle but thought better of it. Of course winning helped, but all in all it was a neat experience.

That makes the decision to put .2 back on the clock at the end of the GRC-Rowan game last week even more impressive. One would have to have the reflexes of a cat to have been able to give the TO and check the clock in order to have definite knowledge of the amount of time that went of the clock all in .2 second. The time was the real issue on that last play not whether the Rowan player was fouled. (He was.) There should have only been enought time left for a tip-in not a catch and shoot.

Bopper was the difference maker in this game as he has been all year. Even on the possessions he is out Robbie and Jaylen are handling the presses better. Now they only have to do it for a few possessions not like last year when they were the first options and they are quite capable of doing that and then throw in Moore as still another option.

When Rowan called the last timeout the clock was stopped at .3. The officials put on .2 to give them .5. In my opinion .3 was the correct time. So Rowan would not have had enough time for a catch and shoot only a tip in. In which case this last contested shot should never have taken place.

GRC by 8. Hopefully someone will be able to post some updates by text at least. No live broadcast is strange to say the least. Wonder what is the basis for that decision?

Rowan played a great game and GRC probably had their worst game of the season. Looked very tired and lackadaisal. Good to see Zollo seems to be healthy.

Good win for Tates Creek. The 11th will be war with a lot of teams able to win it.

Another very good performance by GRC over yet another ranked team. Purvis really filled in for Zollo. Cards did not break after Western's comeback and got the job done. The 1-3-1 zone really bothered Western in the first half and it allowed the Cards to rest some and stay out of foul trouble. Taylor is a very nice player.
