  1. I think we'll know early if the young Trinity squad can stay in the game. The biggest factor, and in my mind the only factor, will be if Trinity can run the football against X's 3-3-5 scheme. T has to be able to pick up yardage running the ball to win the game. Look for Wright to get some yards on the edge on sprintouts to keep the chains moving. I think X's qb is down from year's past so T may be able to concentrate more on stopping the run without gambling too much in the secondary. I know the Maryland team was good, but i didn't think X had the overall team speed they've had in the past. Trinity's speed is up so that may be an advantage for the Rocks. Specht v. Coverdale part IV.
  2. X is always going to have a great defense. To hold Louisville X to 74 yards is unheard of. Probably the lowest output in 30 years for St. X. Specht does a great job with his scheme and the kids are sure tacklers. Is X a senior laden team?
  3. Great win Rocks. Many of the comments here regarding surprise (whether mock or not) that the game was close speak volumes about how far the program has come in Coach Beatty's tenure. When your program reaches the point that a win over a GCL and national powerhouse is questioned, your program is in a very good place. Other than Trinity in 2002 and 2010, who was the last Kentucky team to beat Elder? How has Trinity's new man defensive scheme been working? Has it been a cover 1 mainly or is it a man under cover 2 look?
  4. Congrats Hunter. It is always nice to have kids from winning programs go to Centre.
  5. Not everyone gets to open up regionals with 6-21 Prestonsburg...
  6. Ok, are there any great teams out there this year?
  7. So you still believe "there is not one or two great teams in the (seventh) region?"
  8. Huh? Have you watched the Seventh this year? Trinity isn't too shabby.
  9. I didn't realize it either. Look at this: Moore, the 8th ranked team in the region, would be the FAVORITE to advance to the Sweet 16 in the following eight regions: 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, and 16.
  10. Don't forget Seneca, who also was a top 10 team.
  11. When I think of blue collar workers, Fort Thomas is the first city that pops in my mind.
  12. Anyone know the date and location?
  13. This is great news. I know Dale and Bob love to get a lot of reps during these scrimmages by keeping them up tempo. Even though it is just a scrimmage, playing against the #1 or 1A team in the state will help the baby Rocks and their new qb, whomever that may be.
  14. Of course. Fairly or unfairly, there are different standards and expectations for the elite of Kentucky high school football. Perhaps, that's why those schools remain elite.
  15. Just off the top off my head, these schools would not constitute that as a best ever run: Male St. X HHS BG Cov Cath Hopkinsville Lex Cath Breathitt Central Boyle Rockcastle Fort Campbell Beechwood New Cath Danville Mayfield Pikeville Belfry
  16. 1995: 1st round loss; 5-6 1996: Semi state loss; 11-2 1997: State runner up; 11-4 1998: Semi state loss; 9-5 Averages out to 9-4 every year.
  17. Great job Rocks. Keep on fighting.
  18. The UFL so he can perfect the fumblerooski.
  19. Thanks for the link Jimmy. I wanted to see if the tv guys noticed Glaser's antics or if Trinity fans were unjustifiably upset at the hat tip. Looks like the color commentator, Scott Thompson, whom I assume has no animosity towards Glaser, had the same present sense impression as many Rock fans. The fake fg and Glaser salute begin at 2:14:30 here http://ky.ihigh.com/school23462/broadcast_106625.html. I loved when the announcer begins to laugh in disbelief and says: "Ha ha ha ha ha. Oh boy that's what you call hate, hate, hate. They go for the fake field goal already up 18. And if that's not worse Coach Glaser goes out and tips his hat to the Trinity fans." Once again, congrats to the players on their unequalled performance this year.
  20. Talked to a couple of St. X families ater mass this morning. While they were elated on the win, each family, one of whom has "close" ties to him, apologized for Glaser's actions.
  21. Sure. Titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and runner ups in 2000 and 2009 is definitely a sign that a program is in decline. Let's keep things in perspective.
