  1. Trinity sure did with Brian Brohm, as we all know "You can't beat an All-American."
  2. Do what Ryle and X did in the first half: run the ball and keep Trinity's offense off the field. Male ought to be able to do that given that they've rushed for over 3,500 yards this year. They also have two 1,000 yard backs. Defensively, they've got to stop the run out of their nickel package. That may prove to be a challenge.
  3. Believe me, having posted on this board for for many years, I am cognizant that there is a difference re open enrollment. Until today, I was unaware that it was permissible in Boone County for a high school coach to coach a non-enrolled student athlete. The Catholic grade schools have had a league for 60 years (CSAA). The public middle schools have just instituted school based football teams. Until then, and still today, the optimist league is where the public school children played.
  4. Thanks for the explanation. You learn something new everyday.
  5. Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like it may just be Boone County.
  6. If the coach is a coach at a local high school, he can't coach or select a team of players for a local grade/middle school.
  7. They definitely can do that. They are prohibited from selcting/coaching a team of potential students who are not students at their schools. Sounds like that is not the case in NKY.
  8. Thanks for the explanation. So the position in Boone County is that while these kids are not in high school yet, since they have to come to our high school, we are permitted to coach/interact with them?
  9. To the greatest extent. Correct me if i am wrong, but can't a student in Ft. Thomas, KY can go to other public schools besides HHS? If yes, is that different for a student in Union, KY?
  10. I don't know. I'm very unfamiliar with the process in NKY. You guys have provided great information on these issues. I've gotten quite a few private messages from Louisville school supporters. So Highlands' varsity coaches interact with football players who aren't in Highlands High School? In Jefferson County, if a high school coach were to do what has been represented on this thread, he would be in trouble.
  11. I didn't know high school coaches were permitted to select middle school players for a football team? Perhaps that is different in Boone County. I know in Jefferson County that is prohibited. That's why I thought you were being sarcastic.
  12. I bet Mr. Quick makes an appearance Saturday night.
  13. How much interaction is permitted in Boone County with high school coaches and the youth football leagues? Are the Union Raider players going to Ryle or are they permitted to go to other schools?
  14. I don't think the Highlands' fans are saying they are better than Trinity. In fact, most of them believe Trinity is better than HHS just about every year. I believe their only contention is that their state titles are more "impressive" because they have an enrollment disadvantage on just about every school in their class. Akin to a 152 pound wrestler winning the 171 pound title; it doesn't mean he can beat the heavyweight title holder, only that he beat people bigger than him. In fairness to Trinity, Trinity won many, many state titles before its enrollment grew to current levels.
  15. I don't know? Henderson wasn't ranked in the BGP 6A rankings. Henderson may have been very good. If you saw the game, why did Male struggle with Henderson at home? What type of defense does Male run?
  16. What kind of defense does Male run? Why did Male struggle so much with Henderson County? What happened in the Maunual game?
  17. I love it when the uninformed pontificate re Trinity! One lady at the game asked me how many players had full rides? She was apologetic afterwards when I explained the third party anonymous need based aid system.
  18. I'm going to go with Ryle in a close one. I think this was Ryle's best team ever, and St. X had one of their worst team's in recent memory. X barely beat PRP, Male and Ballard and trailed at half to Seneca. Ryle's defense played Trinity tougher than X did either time. Finally, Ryle has a much better passing game than X.
  19. I hope the kid makes it, but on what we saw last night, I would say not likely.
  20. You bring up some fair points. Trinity should feel fortunate they only had 80 more penalty yards, 1 touchdown, a 30 yard gain to the Ryle 2, a 40 yard gain and an interception called back. Trinity is taught to hold and cut illegally. As Ryle's sign said before the game, I guess our "luck" continues.
