Doesn't leave much time for the social aspect of college. That is why so many girls either give it up or don't pursue it at all. Got to be extremely dedicated and disciplined.

Coach, I have to disagree with you on one point. My father was a teacher and with the time he put in both at school and at home I can't imagine him being able to put in the time it takes to coach high school softball. My hat is off to any teacher that coaches a high school sport as well. Teacher or Para-Professional first requirement to coach Softball or Baseball, you must be willing to work 16 hour days from February to June.

Sure I understand. Just thought it was strange that basically the whole team was made up of KY kids and EMR has always fielded strong teams with Indiana based kids. Says quite a bit for that group of girls.

Just curious why 9 players from NKY have to play on a team from IN? We need more teams in KY.

To be fair to the Enquirer I would guess 95%+ of their readers are in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties and they are in the business of serving their readers. GC could force the issue a little by turning in all scores to the Enquirer and also the Post. I'm not sure if they are even included in the Stats and Coaches poll listings. I just don't think they had much to go on with the all-star team. In my mind it was more of a "hey we know you have some fine players down there, just wanted to give them a nod".

OK, I did see that GC was included, I am going to give the Enquirer the benefit of the doubt and say it is a lack of coverage because of geography.

I did not see the paper which also included the honorable mentions, but was Gallatin even included? I believe the Enquirer has set their boundaries and not included Gallatin. This is a matter of geography not respect. GC is probably the early favorite for the 8th next year and I would think 3 of the top ten players are from Gallatin. I'm not sure how much I matter, but they certainly have my respect.

Great to see vets working with younger girls.

Bottom line... you could force them to join but that still does not guarantee they will vote. There just isn't much unity in this area like there is in other parts of the state. I have seen the best players in this state and there are players in this area that are just as good, we just do not have the depth here that teams in other parts of the state have. What has to be done is coaches need to look at the best players and teams and vote for them and hopefully when the situation is reversed they can expect the same.

Never been to a coaches association meeting that this has not been a topic of conversation. Absolutely can not force coaches to join.

Sorry but you are way off base on this one. Very few softball related things come close to matching the all-star weekend.

No big scoop there. This has been pretty common knowledge for the last couple years.

NKU has a very nice softball complex, my comment was that the infield playing surface is not the smoothest around and I think there is some agreement to that point.

Only been on that surface a few times, but I didn't care for it much. Several of the area high school infields are smoother.

Who would pick the all-star teams then? Not nearly enough media coverage for accurate selections. There are definitely some flaws, but what we have is as good as it is going to get.

I think she led the SEC in Home Runs her sophomore year and is still the single season leader at UK.

My kids spent a couple years with Vernon for lessons. Humble, kind and full of enthusiasm. He will certainly be missed.

Good win for NCC, I am going to credit it to the 3 and one half innings of practice you guys got on Wednesday. I have a friend who's daughter plays for McCauley, so I got to kid him a little about the Northern Kentucky domination.

This time of year with the weekday limitations and the district seeding commitments it is almost impossible to make up a game.

Your playing this down a little. I'll take Gallatin as the heavy favorite. Holy Cross, Reidland and Gallatin are my picks. Should be a great tournament, good luck with the rain.

Probably more discouraging than the kids that haven't learned the game by high school.

We have to figure out a way to get kids involved at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade level. There should be hundreds of t-ball/coach pitch teams in this area and it just isn't happening. It is definitely interesting when 9th grade girls show up to tryouts and ask "Where's the gloves?"
