  1. All of the coaches do not get to see all players in the 8th, very big geographic region and that is why the coaches rely so heavily on stats. Jessica also played with one of the better high school players to ever play in this area and a pitcher that was pretty dominant that year making her a little less noticeable to a team that might not see them on a regular basis.
  2. There really isn't a stat to measure the defensive contributions a player makes to her team. Fair or not, that is the reality.
  3. 1800 Points in 3 seasons without the aid of the 3 pointer.
  4. Surprised he has not moved on to the next level. Would have thought that was one of his goals.
  5. Amazing it is so difficult to find people that are willing to do a job that pays up to $50 per hour. May also be the only job in the world that being screamed at and insulted publicly is acceptable behavior.
  6. Clyde, there were a couple times he stood in the pocket forever, whether our receivers have the ability to get open may be an issue as well.
  7. Not the problem today, don't remember Whitlow being pressured all that often.
  8. Was thinking the KIAC or Mid-South would be a good fit. Not sure what teams they would be playing if they stayed with NCCAA.
  9. What conference will they be affiliated with?
  10. I understand your point, but I also see the flip side. If you have 2 teams in a game situation you play to win and the sacrifice is an integral part of the game. I'm sure the coaches would like to see how well a 3rd, 1st or Catcher can field the bunt, if the 2nd gets there on time, if the RF backs up the throw, if the SS and LF are moving. 3b at Henry County who signed with UL fielded a bunt a couple years back that we talked about for weeks.
  11. I would say every QB with Towles status coming out of high school is told something similar to that and I'm betting every QB of his status expects to be great. Whitlow's signing was a best athlete available type signing, I'm not even sure they expected him to be a QB.
  12. You are going to Chicago to coach travel ball?
  13. Doesn't leave much time for the social aspect of college. That is why so many girls either give it up or don't pursue it at all. Got to be extremely dedicated and disciplined.
  14. Childhood memory, back in the '70's we would stop at an old country store in Leslie County and cut a piece off and eat it there. Good stuff, still can't get my wife to try it.
  15. 2:30-2:45 to reach the field and set up, still a pretty tall task.
  16. Coach, I have to disagree with you on one point. My father was a teacher and with the time he put in both at school and at home I can't imagine him being able to put in the time it takes to coach high school softball. My hat is off to any teacher that coaches a high school sport as well. Teacher or Para-Professional first requirement to coach Softball or Baseball, you must be willing to work 16 hour days from February to June.
  17. Sure I understand. Just thought it was strange that basically the whole team was made up of KY kids and EMR has always fielded strong teams with Indiana based kids. Says quite a bit for that group of girls.
  18. Just curious why 9 players from NKY have to play on a team from IN? We need more teams in KY.
  19. To be fair to the Enquirer I would guess 95%+ of their readers are in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties and they are in the business of serving their readers. GC could force the issue a little by turning in all scores to the Enquirer and also the Post. I'm not sure if they are even included in the Stats and Coaches poll listings. I just don't think they had much to go on with the all-star team. In my mind it was more of a "hey we know you have some fine players down there, just wanted to give them a nod".
  20. OK, I did see that GC was included, I am going to give the Enquirer the benefit of the doubt and say it is a lack of coverage because of geography.
  21. I did not see the paper which also included the honorable mentions, but was Gallatin even included? I believe the Enquirer has set their boundaries and not included Gallatin. This is a matter of geography not respect. GC is probably the early favorite for the 8th next year and I would think 3 of the top ten players are from Gallatin. I'm not sure how much I matter, but they certainly have my respect.
  22. Great to see vets working with younger girls.
  23. Bottom line... you could force them to join but that still does not guarantee they will vote. There just isn't much unity in this area like there is in other parts of the state. I have seen the best players in this state and there are players in this area that are just as good, we just do not have the depth here that teams in other parts of the state have. What has to be done is coaches need to look at the best players and teams and vote for them and hopefully when the situation is reversed they can expect the same.
