  1. Never been to a coaches association meeting that this has not been a topic of conversation. Absolutely can not force coaches to join.
  2. Sorry but you are way off base on this one. Very few softball related things come close to matching the all-star weekend.
  3. No big scoop there. This has been pretty common knowledge for the last couple years.
  4. NKU has a very nice softball complex, my comment was that the infield playing surface is not the smoothest around and I think there is some agreement to that point.
  5. Only been on that surface a few times, but I didn't care for it much. Several of the area high school infields are smoother.
  6. Who would pick the all-star teams then? Not nearly enough media coverage for accurate selections. There are definitely some flaws, but what we have is as good as it is going to get.
  7. I think she led the SEC in Home Runs her sophomore year and is still the single season leader at UK.
  8. My kids spent a couple years with Vernon for lessons. Humble, kind and full of enthusiasm. He will certainly be missed.
  9. Good win for NCC, I am going to credit it to the 3 and one half innings of practice you guys got on Wednesday. I have a friend who's daughter plays for McCauley, so I got to kid him a little about the Northern Kentucky domination.
  10. This time of year with the weekday limitations and the district seeding commitments it is almost impossible to make up a game.
  11. Your playing this down a little. I'll take Gallatin as the heavy favorite. Holy Cross, Reidland and Gallatin are my picks. Should be a great tournament, good luck with the rain.
  12. Thanks to lawnboy and Richard skinner. In scenic Pikeville now to see UPike upset 16th ranked and msc leader Lindsey Wilson 4-3 as Kayla gets the win and Courtney doubled, singled and scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
  13. Probably more discouraging than the kids that haven't learned the game by high school.
  14. We have to figure out a way to get kids involved at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade level. There should be hundreds of t-ball/coach pitch teams in this area and it just isn't happening. It is definitely interesting when 9th grade girls show up to tryouts and ask "Where's the gloves?"
  15. You are right about that. The field faces the east and the wind always seems to be coming out of the west. Makes the game a little more fun IMO. And I am certainly not saying that is the reason for any Home Run that has ever been hit out of SK either, it still has to be hit. Good luck to your team and daughter, hope your pitcher is doing better, she throws the ball well.
  16. I've been watching this game for nearly 15 years and I have never once seen a 3-1.
  17. I've been screaming this since the day I signed my girls up for their first team.
  18. Certainly is different from school to school. We haven't had a Soccer/Softball player in the last 10 years. Don't think it would make a considerable difference for travel ball either, Georgia plays their high school ball in the fall and I would guess they probably have at least 5 times the amount of college softball players as us.
  19. I have always been a fan of high school softball being a fall sport. Anybody disagree right now?
  20. Joker took what many would argue is the toughest BCS coaching job in the nation and failed. There will be opportunities for him soon at the mid-major level, if he has any success he will be back at a BCS school.
  21. Really depends on what you consider a "major school". I think you way underestimate the respect Joker has in the college football community. Someone will be willing to give him another shot. Just wait and watch.
  22. Terrible head coach at UK....true. Terrible Coach... not even close.
  23. Terrible coach? Just weeks after he is fired he gets hired by a top ten team. Maybe he failed as Head Coach at UK, but Joker Phillips has never and will never have trouble finding a coaching job.
