  1. Kristin Clemons is the post player. Erin Toller is the freshman guard that has tons of potential and came up big in this game.
  2. I like the balanced scoring for Sacred Heart. Five players in double figures in this game. Many weapons on this team offensively, which makes them hard to defend. Getting the younger players into these early season games is going to pay off at the end of the season. I like how SHA is positioned right now! Lot's of depth this year.
  3. Big jump into the rankings for a much deserved Henderson County.
  4. Too many whistles in this game for my liking, but the officials were consistent in how they called the game. Many players from both teams rode the pine in foul trouble. Thanks to Kentucky Premier for putting these types of games together because it helps get teams ready for the end of the year when it really counts. Simon Kenton was a scrappy team that will get better as the year progresses. I'm sure missing two of their players due to injury will make them a tough out upon their return. This was a coming out party for freshman guard Erin Toller who came up big in this game when the starters got in early foul trouble. She was a difference maker off of the bench. Good luck to the Pioneers as I'm sure they will be in the sweet 16.
  5. I believe Simon Kenton can play with any of the top teams, especially with the addition of Harney. There are some big games tomorrow at the Titan Classic being hosted by Mercer County. The 5pm pits Sacred Heart against Simon Kenton. Like most teams right now, Sacred Heart hasn't come close to reaching their potential this early in the season as I'm sure SK hasn't either. Should be a good measuring stick for both squads.
  6. I think this will be a close game with two quality teams going at it. SHA will have to keep Niece in check with lesser experienced post play. SHA has the deep bench that should let them apply defensive pressure and cause turnovers. Both teams can shoot the ball extremely well, so I see it being a pick-em game.
  7. Murray can prove their medal this coming Saturday when they take on Butler. That should be a good game!
  8. I'll bite on this one. What teams are overrated? They all seem pretty legit to me, not to say Murray shouldn't be in that group as well. Lots of talent in the state of Kentucky girls prep basketball.
  9. I know the younger referee in this game and it was his first big game in KSSAA. If no one is complaining or making comments, he must've done a decent job.
  10. What's everyone's evaluation of the officiating in this game?
  11. She was one of the best players on the court against Sacred Heart. Really liked the game of Zoie Barth as well.
  12. We wish her the best through an emotional time for her. Tough whenever that happens, but especially hard when it's your senior year. Praying for her and a speedy recovery.
  13. How is the girl that injured her knee doing? I think it was Macy Gabbard. I hope it wasn't too serious, but didn't look good.
  14. I thought the game was played at a fairly high level for the first game of the year for both teams. Highlands played with great energy, but they struggled in the post due to their lack of height. Sacred Heart has many weapons for this year and go 9 deep without skipping a beat. Our Freshman will do nothing but improve as the season progresses, especially our post player Clemons. Clemons is still rusty because she recently joined the team after playing varsity on the Volleyball team. Good luck to the Bluebirds.
  15. SHA didn't play tough defense in the first half. The birds have one good ball handler the rest are shaky. SHA got the freshman in the game early to get the jitters out. SHA should play better in the second half.
  16. Scott is a team to be reckoned with this year. Have an elite player on their team that the Panda's won't be able to match up with in this one. Scott wins.
  17. I would be shocked if Ryle beats or comes close to Simon Kenton. But then again I Said the same thing this past weekend about a football game.
  18. I think Sacred Heart will be ready for the pressure D this time around. Should be a competitive game.
  19. Let's give thanks to all things that matter to all of us! I'm thankful for: My parents and the love showed me My beautiful wife that puts up with my faults My awesome kids My brothers and extended family My teachers of my kids My company that helps me provide to my family My protectors: police, fire fighters and health care providers My friends Our great country But most of all my God. May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving. Please give thanks to all of your blessings this holiday season.

  22. The Valkyries scrimmaged Ryle and showed some reasons why they will be a contender to win the 7th region. The addition of some talented Freshman will give them the depth to play a pressure style defense causing turnovers that can be converted to easy baskets. Really liked the speed of this team. Toller is going to be a beast in the backcourt along with Clemons in the post. Love those volleyball players with basketball skills because she instinctively blocks shots with out fouling because she blocks the ball with her hands straight up like blocking a volleyball at the net. The Valkyries can go 9-10 deep which should pay huge dividends this year. The veteran players look much stronger and confident this year. Kia Sivils the recent Marshall commit is as fast and athletic as anyone in the state. Ryle didn't have a deep team and had to rely on their quality guards. They struggled to make shots in this game, but you can tell they will get better as the season progresses. The guards were skilled with the ball and had good basketball skills. The downside is they were also the taller players on the team. Unless they had some post players missing in this game, they will struggle in the paint against teams with post players.
