  1. Congratulations to Coach Souder and his Mercer County team. Great honor to start the season. Lot's of talent in the State of Kentucky right now!
  2. Bullitt East is having a day of scrimmages this coming Saturday. Sacred Heart plays Lincoln county at 1PM.
  3. Thanks for correcting me. I left after a few minutes into the 5th qtr. Many of the bench players and some role players played in the 5th qtr. I doubt if any of the seniors played in the 5th and 6th quarters. I was impressed with both teams. Murray will be a tough out at the end of the year.
  4. As everyone knows scores in scrimmages don't mean much. This game was played where the score at each quarter started 0-0. 1st Murray 12 SHA 10 2nd Murray 9 SHA 13 3rd Murray 10 SHA 12 4th Murray 10 SHA 26 SHA is very very deep and wore down Murray by the 4th quarter. Burpo and Turley probably played over 30 minutes. SHA didn't have anyone play 30 minute, so it was close until 4th qtr. They did play a 5th quarter, but most of the main players didn't play for either side. Berger was the leading scorer with 12 for SHA. Samsel had 11 with many others scoring for SHA. One of SHA's best players Erin Toller didn't play in this game because she is recovering from a minor injury. Should be back soon.
  5. Murray scrimmaged Sacred Heart today at SHA. After watching Murray play, Murray's talented squad should win most of the games they play this year and contend for a State title. The trio of Mayes, Turley, and Burpo are the heart of this team. Macy Turley runs the team very well. Burpo and Mayes were the leading scorers in this game with 13 points a piece and Turley chipping in with 12.
  6. What's your top 10 players in the 7th region? You could make a case for any of the girls you listed to be on the list.
  7. 1. Mercy 2. Bullitt East 3. Butler 4. North Bullitt 5. Fern Creek Butler and Bullitt East are probably equal pre-season, so both could be number 2. We will see what Coach Just does with this group by the end of the year. I think he is one of the best Coaches in the state.
  8. I can think of other players that should be on the list for the 7th region. I know Erin Toller with SHA has some top D1 offers on the table (Ex. Tennessee for one). Kia Sivils is committed to Marshall and should be on the list.
  9. I thought Butler lost a lot from last year's team (Jeffries, Penn, Torrens, Goodlet, and Lewis), but still have Lockhart. Does Butler have enough talent to support Lockhart?
  10. Sacred Heart plays: Nov 29 GRC Home Jan 17 Scott Home Feb 2 Campbell Home Mercy Plays: Jan 6 Scott @franklin County Male plays: Dec 5th Campbell County @ Campbell County Feb 16th GRC @ GRC I'm sure there's more I've missed, but should be some quality games worth watching. I like the first game to start the season. GRC can set the tone with a Win.
  11. First game out of the gate will be a good one. GRC vs Sacred Heart on Nov 29th
  12. Sacred Heart currently has four girls committed to play basketball at the next level on their 2017-2018 roster. Two others have offers from NKU (Sophomores Toller and Marshall). This team should have the talent to give Mercer County a run for their money. Big match up with Mercer early on in the season at the Kentucky Premier Challenge. Thanks to Kentucky Premier for setting up good games early on in the season! Grace Berger - Indiana Kia Sivils - Marshall Cierra Scott - Mercer Natalie Fichter - Indiana University Southeast
  13. Here's the beginning of the year schedule for Sacred Heart. They have probably eight girls on their roster that will play in college (DI,DII,DIII). Senior Grace Berger is committed to Indiana, Kia Sivils is committed to Marshall, and Ciera Scott is committed to Mercer. The Valkyries should be highly ranked team at beginning of the year and be a contender for a State championship. Nov 29, 17 George Rogers Clark home 7:30 PM Dec 1, 17 Seneca away 6:00 PM Dec 2, 17 TBA at Dixie Heights Hoops for Harvest Dec 7, 17 Jeffersonville, IN away 7:30 PM Dec 9, 17 Mercer County away 8:00 PM Kentucky Premier Challenge Dec 14, 17 Eastern away 7:30 PM Dec 19, 17 TBA at Phoenix, AZ NIKE Tournament of Champions Dec 29, 17 Brentwood Academy (Brentwood), TN away 5:30 PM Dec 30, 17 Ensworth (Nashville), TN away 4:00 PM
  14. What a way to kick off the Sweet sixteen with this marquis matchup! These two teams split during the season. Sacred Heart has been in a groove after losing to Butler in the LIT by clicking off 12 wins in a row including a win over Butler, Manual twice, CAL, Mercy, Campbell County, Bullitt East, and Eastern in that run. Butler tops that with 32 wins in their last 33 games. Should be a really competitive game to get things started. Wouldn't surprise me if the team that wins this game ends up the State Champion. Butler should be the favorite in this game, but SHA very possibly could pull off the upset.
  15. Sacred Heart bringing up students on buses for $15 including ticket and excused absence. I think they will have big numbers for the noon game on Wednesday.
  16. Tonight Manual takes on Sacred Heart in this 7:30 regional championship game at Valley HS. Manual surprised many by knocking off Male in overtime in the semi final game. Manual and Sacred Heart played each other twice splitting those games. Sacred Heart is a slight favorite in this one that should come down to the wire.
  17. 5:30 tip off at Valley HS for the regional championship game between Bullitt East and Butler. Miss basketball candidates Duvall and Penn go head to head in what should be a great game between to elite teams. Butler is favored to win, but I wouldn't count out Bullitt East with their high energy game.

  19. Sacred Heart jumped on Eastern from the beginning of this game and never looked back. Unlike last year where they went into the 4th quarter against Male with an 18 point lead, only to lose in overtime. SHA took a 21-7 first quarter lead by making 5 threes in the period. The Valkyries defense was able to keep Eastern's shooters at bay holding them to 25% shooting in the first half and 37% for the game.
  20. If you are discussing the Male/Manual game, I didn't see it that way. Yes they may call the game differently than the 7th regions officials, but they were consistent with the calls. I thought they were crisp with there mechanics and were in the right place throughout the game. I don't know what prompted the technical foul, so I'm assuming it was something that was said by the player. I agree with the other posters that you have to adjust to how the game is called. It prepares you for the sweet sixteen if you make it there.
  21. As the saying goes "Be prepared when your number is called" was very fitting in this classic game. How cool was that for Groves, who probably never expected to get into this game, comes into the game for a total of 7 seconds and gets the game winner as time expired? It was fun to watch. Congratulations to this senior that will never forget this experience.
