I agree, we will be good next year. I might get hammered for saying this because he just won MVP of the state championship game, but our QB is going to have to be more consistent than he was this year...especially with a new receiving corps. If you have seen all of our games this year, I think you will know what I am trying to say. Our offense struggled at times this year, and it was our defense that refused to lose...that has to change...not the defense, the offense.

With all due respect, what contributed to Newcath's loss today was the Cardinal defense...much more than one bad call by an official. They had the ball for 11 of 12 minutes in the first quarter and did not score one point...that was huge. Another great game by the Cardinal defense! Our running game was non existent, and we still found a way to win. That's what champions do. Hats off to the Newcath's defense...they were really tough.

I realize that you think that Desales could have done some things better, but make no mistake about it...Mayfield beat Desales tonite! We put up 24 points on "the best defense in 2A"...and settled down and stopped the Colts offense. I was in the press box, and after the game i overheard someone say that Desales only had 65 yards in the second half...that is unofficial...the Cardinals decided to play championship football in the second half.

Another amazing thing about coach Joe and his father is that many of the wins came against larger schools...both of them refusing to schedule a team in the same class except for district play.

We' talked about this...losing Hatchell was a bigger loss to us than the graduation of Jonathan Jackson...imo.

Great, but tough win for the Cardinals. Our offense was completely ineffective with Tyler running the ball. Everything changed when Caldwell took over in the backfield in the second half. Thank goodness our defense had some "good stretches", but Murray really helped us out by putting the ball on the ground so many times. Tucker for Murray ran the ball well in the first half, but for some reason, they hardly gave it to him in the second half...didn't understand that move by the Murray coaching staff. Things got really chippy in the fourth quarter with both teams losing their respective heads on several occasions...it will be an interesting rematch to say the least.

Plantman is not a mayfield fan, or at least he's not from mayfield...you absolutely would be welcome. Bring a carload.

I thought so too. He made several gains on his own athletic ability because there was no hole to run through...he was difficult to bring down, and he did not fumble the football. We replaced Bright with a sophomore (Tyler) and a freshman (Matthews), and both of those young men did very well...this really bodes well for our team
