Who wins and why?

MF will win but Butler is capable of keeping it interesting for awhile before the Big Red Machine exerts it will. An interesting side note to this one is that the only other matchup I can recall between Mayfield and Butler occurred 3 years ago in the 8TH grade state playoffs. A 8-0 Butler win on their way to a middle school state title. The Cards juniors have not forgot about that loss, with a few of them joking with me that it was payback time.

If Butler could play a little keep away they could keep this game tight for a while, but playing an up tempo passing game will work to Mayfield's benefit. Something like 45 to 21.

Mayfield big...45-7

Love Rex Henderson! Very good HS QB! But he'll have to throw for TDs and get Pick 6's on Defense for this game to be close. Just don't see it. Mayfield 42- Butler 17

Mayfield by a lot. No contest.

Butler Co is the type team that scares me.. They have a top notch QB and a couple of other nice looking skill players.. They can put up some points.. You get them in a game where no one's giving them a shot and they have nothing to lose and everything to gain and no pressure, it could be dangerous.. They certainly aren't a team you want to give up a couple of quick scores and allow them to stick around for 3 quarters with a shot to win in the 4th.. I think Mayfields D will be challenged here, but, I think they'll rise to the occassion more times than not.. Not sure how good Butler's D is, but, my guess is, not very, in looking at scores against the better teams on their schedule.. So, I think Mayfield's O will hit on several big plays and they'll grind out a couple of other scores where they impose their will and while I do think Butler will make a couple of big plays and score a couple of times, in the end, too much Mayfield.. Mfd 42 BC 14

I like MF's defensive gameplan for containing Henderson. MF's offense will be a little vanilla, but should be enough to win this one by 3 TDs. MF 31 - BC 10.

Butler Co. - no defense

+ Apollo played them close 36-44

+ Ocath stomped them into the ground 53-14

= Beatdown by Mayfield

Im going to tend to agree with this. Ive covered Butler County all season and i like them a lot. They have been fun to watch, but this is a different level of football. Not that they arent capable of competing, because with Rex Henderson anything is possible, BUT i just dont see it. Butler didnt fair very well when it got into games with anyone who wasnt below average. Apollo shot themselves in the foot multiple times or they win that game. Catholic blew them out of the water. Ohio County had them beat if not for a blown call in the endzone. Catholic aside, the other two teams simply arent anywhere near the level of a Mayfield. Unfortunately, i think the season ends here for Butler, in a big way...

Mayfield 49

Butler 20

I think this game has a running clock at some point. Butler Co relies 100% on Henderson and that is not good when you play a quality team. I think Mayfield wins 52-14
