Believe Highlands is playing McNick on Saturday for JV game.

Does anyone really know what to expect in game 1 of the season? How are both teams on the injury front? How about special teams?

That is my understanding as well. Per my source the AD was not aware of that arrangement and set the game for Friday thus cancelling the other games. It was also my understanding that the middle school games were scrimmages, so no big deal at the end of the day.

Don’t know all of the specifics just what I was told by someone close to the situation. When and if I find out more I will share. Simply relaying what I was told.

The only Campbell County kid I am aware of was Hergott. Definitely made a difference for Beechwood.

Could not play QB last year, but showed that he was a solid football player who understands the game, was coachable and an overall good kid.

Believe it or not, but Lorenzen is the backup on the frosh team. Starts at tight end and linebacker.

Let’s pump the brakes a bit. Good effort for the most part. Still things that need work, but look improved overall. Keep in mind that varsity score was 27-21 Male. Highlands had two frosh quarterbacks throw touchdown passes in last quarter. Defense was a lot more active but don’t care much for the scheme as they get hurt too easily on the edge and need to quit trying to play man to man on the backend. Plenty to work on but looks like the pieces are there if they can be put in the right places.

27-21 after 3. Now JV game.

Highlands frosh were impressive. Good size and play hard.

Neither team looks too bad. Male seems a little down compared to other years but still solid.

Halftime 27-14. I will leave it at that.

Votto is in last year of his contract and there is an option of some type. He is THE person that is taking away at bats from the young guys. Obviously he is doing some coaching in the background which is good, but doesn’t mean he has to get at bats 5 days a week.
