Highlands 56 Covington Catholic 26 (NKY Frosh Championship)

For a third straight year, it will be the Birds hosting the Colonels for the championship game of the NKY Freshman Football Conference. Covington Catholic's football program (the younger of the two programs) is currently in it's 60th season, and this will make the sixth time overall that these two programs have faced off against one another for the conference title, with Highlands getting the dub in all five previous title meetings.

The two teams played in Park Hills nine weeks ago in the season opener for both programs, with Highlands winning the game 34-14. Since the August 27th contest, both teams have gone on to win the following 8 games. Highlands' most notable win following the opening week of the season came on September 11th when they beat the Elder Panthers 42-8, and Cov Cath's most notable win came on October 15th when they beat the Trinity Shamrocks 28-13.

Kickoff for the championship game is currently scheduled for 6:30pm on Wednesday at David Cecil Memorial Stadium.

I couldn't find this year's roster on the freshman football page on Highlands' athletics website and their Arbiter roster was incomplete, so I pulled what their freshman team was showing on Hudl. There are a few duplicate numbers, as you can see above, but that's the best I could come up with.

Will this game be live streamed?

I have seen most of the Freshman teams play this year and this Highlands team is just on another level in Northern Kentucky. Anything can happen and the weather could play a role but I don't see CovCath stopping the Highlands offense enough and I don't think CovCath can run the ball effectively against this Highlands team. If it is a downpour then that is a big advantage to the Birds.

Last year Highlands had the game streaming from their Highlands Athletics- Hudl Camera account on YouTube (which is a different account from the one they stream their varsity games on.) I'm planning to more than likely head over to Fort Thomas for the game, but hopefully they have this one live-streaming too.

Looks like the Birds will unfortunately be without Quinton Simon , Paxton and Howard Rich in tonight’s game. It’s next man up boys !! Should be a great game , I really like watching the Colonels running back (Miller) , kid is a player !
