Beechwood/Holmes updates
The Observer replied to Dawgs28's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Got to love the ninth region... these next couple weeks going to be real interesting. -
Any idea on which schools want him as a quarterback, and which want him at another position?
-
So what's the deal on Bradley? Is he out for good or saving him til districts? What kind of injury is it?

Boone County @ Dixie Heights Predictions 2/17
The Observer replied to Solomon's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Boone County wins this game. I'll buy into the theory that Pike finds himself in foul trouble and Brown has a field day. With that being said, Hatton still scores 25. I'll take the Rebels by 4 in a game that shows just how wide open the 9th region is. -
Campbell County 75 Pendleton County 64
The Observer replied to dd734's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Campbell could get beat in the districts, or knock off a 10th region favorite, neither would surprise me. Losey and McGovney are players, but in my mind, the Camels go as far a Kennedy can take them. -
Coup at Covington Catholic?
The Observer replied to katbird's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Never ceases to amaze me how Coach L gets treated there. I would kill for my son to play for a coach who has 30 plus years experience on the bench, has led two teams to the state tourney, one to a state final four, coached the Kentucky all star game, the MCDONALDS ALL AMERICAN GAME, spends his saturdays in the fall collecting tickets for football, is involved in the fundraising at the school, and has help raise over $100,000 with the Bluegrass Buckeye Classic. Another funny story a couple years ago when then place where the NKY boys basketball banquet host place went belly up, he organized the whole thing and had it in Cov Cath cafeteria on about a weeks notice, was done up real nice... That day they started the NKY Basketball Coaches ring of honor, giving out plaques to old coaches inducting them was very nice, guess who's idea that was... Mike Listerman. Go ahead try and run him out, the man has a few years left on the bench if he still wants to coach, and he will have zero trouble finding a job. -
Just got a phone call that the game was postponed due to illness. Can anyone confirm?

Boone County 72 Holmes 65
The Observer replied to B-Ball-fan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Amazing a man has been a ref since the mid 70's and has to take that abuse on here. Been elected to the state tourney, all a state, and a few years back did the final game of the girls state tourney. Chappie is a great man. So by calling him "bitter beer face" and "Chapman" is pretty low considering this man was doing games in rupp arena long before the person who made the comment was even born. I agree apologize... thats classless. -
Something to always take into account when it comes to Holmes and hiring coaches is Ron Madrick has strong ties throughout the state, especially the Louisville area. In the past he has hired college assistants ( Henley and Vandermeer), Mike Farley was a coach in waiting that was brought in from Michigan many years ago, then David Trosper who was a assistant at the I-AA level, and this past spring Jason Booher who has no ties to NKY. So while the normal names in NKY may be considered, dont be suprised if it's a college assistant or someone from downstate somewhere.

Great win for the Jags. Congrats to coach Sullivan, his staff, and all the Cooper players.

Both teams seem to be struggling. Hopefully the winner can use it to build momentum. -
9th region All A Bracket
The Observer replied to Dlbdonn's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Looks like a very predictable tournament. NCC is a huge favorite to win the 9th, and perhaps the favorite to win the whole thing! -
Holmes out rebounds Cov Cath by 9. Quan Palmer was great off the bench. They will see each other again.
-
Cov Cath owned the boards in the third and thats why they were able to get back in the game. Quan Palmer playing great off the bench.
-
37-35 three minutes into the third.
-
44-41??? I thought both teams press?

Key Players w/ Injuries in the 9th
The Observer replied to B-Ball-fan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The kid from St. Henry, I think his name is Burnett. -
Let's say Rich is shown the gate... Harbaugh is going to have a lot of options and Les Miles said no three years ago. Who would be next in Ann Arbor if they can not land one of these two?

How are tournament brackets set?
The Observer replied to paNDA's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Usually, not always, the host team has a cupcake in the first round and the top team can be located on the opposite side of the host. -

Ryle beat Holmes last year, at Holmes. I look for this one to come down to the last possession. -
