Congrats to Lloyd on the win. For those that may not know, several of the WV seniors were coached by both Coach King and Coach Turner in the youth football. The WV seniors think very highly of both coaches. Tough night for the Bearcats. It's impossible to beat a team of Lloyd's caliber when you turn the ball over 5 times. WV could have come out in the second half and layed down after being down 18-0 but they didn't. It was a 4 point game with 8 minutes to go in the fourth but Lloyd made a huge play on the 81 yard TD to pretty much ice the game. Lloyd....Good luck against New Cath. Although the season didn't end the way WV wanted, I'm certainly proud of the Bearcats!

Walton-Verona got off to a slow start but recovered nicely. Face a tough Lloyd team next week in Verona. Should be a packed house.

Just to clarify...Newport did not run the opening kick back. Newport was tackled on the opening kick off around the 30 yard line. Their first play from scrimmage was a low snap that the QB recovered and eventually ran down to the WV 2 yard line.

New Richmond has a very solid team. Good test for WV before the playoffs.

WV lead 28-0 after one and 49-0 at the half. May be a costly victory for the Bearcats as they had a starting Off/Def lineman go down with what looked to be a serious knee injury. Prayers out to the young man. First time being at Trimble's new football field and they have done a nice job.

WV wins in their first district game of the season against Carroll. Not a solid performance by WV but any district win is a good win.

No in-fighting at all. Don't make assumptions. Both are very good young men and will continue to contribute at the varsity level. WV will need both to have success during the district part of the schedule.

Catlett did play last year eventually moving into a starting role by seasons end. Not sure about your tackle stats but I'm sure he has more tackles then the other sophomores at this point. As I mentioned....Micheal really began the season not really knowing what position he would be playing. He has come leaps and bounds so far this season. Those two are a good nucleus for a young defensive line.

I'm sure Coach Barth and the coaching staff are not concerned with November right now...they need to get there first. Catlett is a nice player and getting him back for next week will be important, however the sophomore to watch IMO is Hunter Micheal. He really made some nice plays last night on the defensive line. For a young man that started the season with some uncertainty about a position, I think he's really starting to come into his own.

WV started out hot and scored two quick TD's to take a 13-0 lead over LCA. LCA battled back and took a 20-13 lead into halftime. WV received the kickoff in the second half and marched down the field only to have a 25 yd TD run called back due to a block in the back. A few plays later WV fumbled. LCA scored to take a 27-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Bearcats moved the ball down the field for a TD. After a strong defensive stand to force an LCA punt. WV got the ball back with about 5:30 to go in the fourth. They eventually punched it in with about 1:30 on the clock. Coach Barth made the decision to go for two and H. Paige runs it in to give WV the lead. WV decides to kick it deep and LCA runs it out to about the 35 yd line. With no timeouts and about 1:20 or so on the clock, LCA quickly moved the ball down the field. They were on about the WV 15 or 20 yd line with 25 seconds left and ran an out pattern the H. Paige made an unbelievable play on to intercept the pass to seal the victory. The boys played hard and didn't quit. Big Moe was swinging in both directions this game for sure.

Congrats to Coach Turner and Lloyd on the W. Good effort but sloppy performance by the Bearcats. Way to many penalties by WV....and some of which brought back some big plays. Good luck to Lloyd moving toward.

That's correct, those were the only two starters that were lost from last year. They were big ones to lose, however. WV starts only two seniors on this years squad.
