I would be interested in hearing from someone who knows what led to Bezold's technical. Things were getting really chippy, and he scored and was fouled on a take to the basket. Crawford from Brossart then reacted like Bezold had said something, but the referees didn't initially do anything. They called the basket good and put Bezold at the line to shoot the and one, and while he was at the line they called a technical foul on him. Can someone answer if he said something at the line, or did the referees assess the technical after someone from Brossart told them he had said something. Clearly, the referees did not hear him say anything immediately after the basket, or they wouldn't have waited 20 or 30 seconds to assess the technical.

From what I was told, Bezold said something to a Brossart player and the ref told him to knock it off or gave him some type of warning. Once at the line he said something else. Coach Shrand took offense to that T and got into the ref pretty hard resulting in his T.

I, too, have never seen a player draw a T while he was going through his foul shot routine. The Brossart possession preceding the T, the Brossart player split Bezold and another HC defender that fouled out two minutes later. The play was immediately in front of me and Bezold kept complaining to the ref that the foul was on him (maybe 4 times) and the ref ignored him. I observed then, he better be careful. HC then got the ball and Bezold backed his man down, hit the bucket and drew the and-one. That was the other end of the floor, and the ref who T'd him was the same ref he had been chirping at before.

 

Don't know if this was it, or not. My guess, it might have been.

I was behind the bench and later in the game the ref came over and told HC coach what Bezold said at the line. I couldn't hear what it was but HC coach response was "He wasn't talking to you!!!" That's all I know. Also, the T on the coach was well deserved

Brossart finishes 2015 by wiping out most of the 16th Region and then starts 2016 by beating #2 in the 9th. Last week Brossart was rated #10 in the 10th. Could the 10th be a little better then we think?

First time to see HC. Do not know the players, so most of my observations will be very general. Obviously, very well coached. Strength is defense, both half-court and trapping press. These guys are fun to watch defensively. The problem tonight was they had no offensive option other than Bezold. Can't see them going deep in 9th unless tonight was an aberration.

 

Second time to see Brossart. So much better than 1st time against Bracken. Code has these guys playing max-out. Really respect what he gets from his teams, year-in and year-out. Smart players that play smart. Weakness....Foul shots!!!!!!! These guys will go deep in 10th by tourney time.

This was not a good showing for hc. But neither was the last two of their games. They started gaining ground and had some momentum going when the 2 techs got called.

Brossart beat Holy Cross and our Camels lost to Holy Cross by more than 20. Still, I don't think we'll have any trouble with Brossart on Friday night.

Camels have got to get their TEAM act together. Otherwise they will be outplayed by a well coached TEAM with less talent, but greater SMARTS. Brossart by 8, if they hit 70% from the line.
