Bishop Brossart 62 Holy Cross 50

Brossart finishes 2015 by wiping out most of the 16th Region and then starts 2016 by beating #2 in the 9th. Last week Brossart was rated #10 in the 10th. Could the 10th be a little better then we think?
Not trying to take to much away from Brossart. Very well coached team, fundamentally sound, and 2 really nice players. But taking out the 16th is a stretch , barely got by Lewis Co who is a mid-low team. And caught Greenup on a really bad shooting night, don't know how many lay-up , bunny shots Greenup missed but it was a bunch. Gage Hughes was cold from 3 witch didn't help. And got out coached , Greenup is mid- to upper in 16th. Brossart is a nice team, just don't think they are a top team. Would like to see Greenup get a rematch, not going to happen. So good luck to Brossart on the rest of there season. I enjoy watching a team play like they do.

Camels have got to get their TEAM act together. Otherwise they will be outplayed by a well coached TEAM with less talent, but greater SMARTS. Brossart by 8, if they hit 70% from the line.

Agreed, the Camels better come to play.

Big win for the Mustangs! Looks like that loss at Bracken woke them up. I've watched Holy Cross a couple times and they are athletic, quick, but you could tell the tournament in Lexington took a toll on them

First time to see HC. Do not know the players, so most of my observations will be very general. Obviously, very well coached. Strength is defense, both half-court and trapping press. These guys are fun to watch defensively. The problem tonight was they had no offensive option other than Bezold. Can't see them going deep in 9th unless tonight was an aberration.

Second time to see Brossart. So much better than 1st time against Bracken. Code has these guys playing max-out. Really respect what he gets from his teams, year-in and year-out. Smart players that play smart. Weakness....Foul shots!!!!!!! These guys will go deep in 10th by tourney time.

Great to meet you tonight! Brossart was 30-40 tonight From the charity stripe. That is fairly solid for a HS team.

HC went the the hack attack mode way too early IMO. With over 3 minutes left to go were starting the fouls. And never stopped fouling until the horn blew. Not sure coach Strand was happy with the T's called and may have been his way a being a little defiant. Along with the prolonged entry of the subs going in for the 3 kids that fouled out.

Quality win for the Mustangs to start off the new year.

When this Brossart team is good, we can be very, very good. Last night, early on we were outstanding, opening up a 12-5 first quarter lead, setting the tone, followed up by a 15-13 second quarter allowing us to extend the lead to 27-18 at the half.

The Mustangs only turned the ball over on 8 occasions, and handled the Indians' double-team pressure effectively. The Mustangs also did a good job of getting out and contesting the "3" - giving up five on the night - two of which were of the desperation variety late in the game.

Holy Cross cut the Mustangs lead to 36-28 after three quarters, outscoring the home team 10-9. Holy Cross went on a run, cutting the Mustangs lead to 37-33 with 4:40 to play. A technical on an Indians player followed by an ensuing T on Coach Schrand, allowed Jacob Zai to knock down four free-throws, re-establishing the lead at 41-33 and then completed shooting a total of 30 free-throws in the fourth quarter, hitting 24 of those attempts to seal the victory. The 30 free-throws had nothing to do with officiating or partiality - it was strictly the method of finishing out the game as dictated by the HC coaching staff.

Tyler Bezold led all scorers with 33 points on the night. Jackson Crawford led the Mustangs with 21 and Jake Zai added 19.

Holy Cross goes to Conner on Tuesday, while the Mustangs await the Campbell County Camels next Friday night in the Crosstown Classic at the Campbell County Middle School.

Brossart beat Holy Cross and our Camels lost to Holy Cross by more than 20. Still, I don't think we'll have any trouble with Brossart on Friday night.

Makes sense lol

The way things have gone in the 2015-16 season, it makes perfect sense.

Likewise good to meet you and Mustang. Very impressed with Brossart's composure in the heater-smelter hacking defense HC employed. Thought Brossart did regain FT sea legs down the stretch, but we're very shaky in 3rd that aided HC getting back in game. Looking at season FT stats, BB without Crawford and Zaire shoots only 60%. Just suggesting this could be problematic at crunch time. 4th quarter performance at the line did doom HC's extend the game strategy.

Free-throw shooting tends to be a variable that some nights works for you and some nights works against you. You always hope that you will shoot well from the line, and I think this team does a good consistent job night in and night out in knocking down a high percentage. We work on shooting and free-throws on a daily basis and hope that the work we put in pays off on game nights.

Nice meeting you as well!

How does is year's Brossart team look going into the All "a" Classic this up coming weekend? Should they be favorited to win it all again this year like every year in the past?

Is Bezold getting any college looks?

Very contentious 10th Region "A" Tournament coming up.

Paris will be considered the favorite, with Augusta, Bracken County and Brossart their nearest challengers.

Brossart did receive a favorable lower bracket draw which should put them in the Saturday night finals. Paris will have to beat both Bracken County and Augusta to get to the finals.

Augusta beat Brossart last year in overtime, marking only the second time in 13 years that Brossart did not represent the 10th Region in the "A" Big Dance.

If Brossart plays the tournament the same way they played Holy Cross, then they'll make it to Frankfort. 10th Region will be very competitive
