I talked to a Beechwood fan and they said he was fine, he is a very good player with a bright future, trust me when I say this I mean no disrespect becasue you have to play your district games but playing against the teams in Class A doesn't challenge you much at all and stats can be a little desceiving.

You have to put Kelly in the top 3, he was voted as one of the best Juniors in the state last year and got invited to the junior allstar game with Maile, not sure if anyone else in NKY did with those 2.

I would have to disagree with everyone on Niko, he ran hard and played very good defense, he looked fine to me, they played against a vey good NewCath team and he couldn't do anything against them. NewCath did a lot of hard hitting and the Beeches felt it for sure. It was a good test for both teams and the Best team won. Mark Kelly had another great game, he is fun to watch, the O and D lines were fantastice for NewCath. Good luck to both teams I hope they both bring home a state title.

In my opinion Brossart made a mistake by starting a football program, when you have established programs in your area who compete for playoff spots and state titles every year you are not going to compete witht that. Take Holy Cross, they struggled for a very long time to compete and they have had a few good years but on a consistant basis they will not compete with Beechwood, NewCath, CovCath and others. I believe it will take Brossart twice as long to get there as it did for Holy Cross I just hope they have deep pockets to keep a program going is not cheap, I wish them luck.

If the Camels show up like they did against NewCath they will win by 14, they have a very good defense. The key for the Camels is who will play QB Eshman kid is a very good athlete but the Kremer kid is more of a QB who has great touch and is very calm back there.

NKYsportsblog, I agree the Simpson Kid and the Quainno kid are very good backs but again I am talking about an all around back who does it all, catch balls out of the backfield, blocks in pass coverage, blocks down field and then carries the ball 15-20 times a game. Just my opinion and makes for very good converstion.

NewCath has some key inuries right now but I do think NewCath will prevail in this one, NewCath has played some very close games this year and find a way to win and Beechwood has not played many close games so not sure how they will react when if comes to crunch time, I agree they are a very good team with revenge on there minds from last year gettting beat at home. Can't wait to watch this one it will be a great game.

Your right his line does a very good job of opening up holes for him, as for Simpson he is a very good runner, when I look at a running back I look at his pass blocking and his run blocking, I know when Kues runs it Kelly is the lead blocker on a lot of the carries. Not sure what Simpson did against Conner but according to the paper a few weeks ago Kelly ran for 307 yards against Conner and 4 scores. Simpson will be the best back in NKY next year but in my opinion he isn't the best this year.

Newport Central Catholic and Newport High, they play for the Firemans Bell nto sure exactly how long it dates back too but is has been for a very, very, very long time.

Mark Kelly 2A Newport Central Catholic against 6A Campbell County ran for 179 yards on 20 carries and 2 Touchdowns, I believe he had 6 tackles on defense playing linebacker a 34-21 win.

Mark Kelly had a great game, in my mind he is the best all around running back in NKY, he is a geat runner with very good balance and vision, he is also a great blocker. In the last 3 weeks I believe he has run for 307, 150 and 179 yards with a total of 9TDS. He does a lot of things that doesn't go into the stat books, also keep in mind he is the starting outside linebacker.

What a great game both teams played extremly hard and it could have gone either way, NewCath finds a way to win the close ones where the Camels have trouble in that department and when they get over that hump they will be a contender every year in 6A.

If you are putting Buckler on the list I would think you would have to put Mark Kelly on there and as much as Kues runs the ball maybe him too, even though he is a QB Newcath uses him as a second running back, at least until he injured his shoulder.

I wish these two team would have knocked heads last year, I think it would have been a much better game. I don't think the breds have much of a chance in this one, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

It's hard to believe that all top 10 player are from either Lou or Lex. what about noprthen KY, Western and the mountain players. Does the rest of the state really just have so-so players??? Just hard to believe

I hate to say it but, I told ya so. Congrats Newcath and Covcath congrats on reaching the finals don't hang your heads on this one you had a good season.

if Newcath can keep their errors to a minimum they are extremly hard to beat and they have one of the best offenses in nky, I'm gonna be the loner here and take the Breds

Depending on the learning curve from freshman ball to varsity, Chris Kelly of Newcath has the tools make a pretty good one

I believe that Newcath's best offenece incldes Mark and Chris together in the back field like Kevin Smith and Steven Everson used to do in the early 2000's.

I understand i didn't mean anything towards you by it, I was just saying I would just say Mueller and Schneider wouldnt see eye to eye when it came to ethics

I believe him and Paterno became head coaches in the same year or at least right around the same year
