The final score didn't indicate how close this battle was. NCC had to come from behind to took the lead with just 40 seconds left in the game.

NewCath has found a way to win in a number of close shoot-outs this year. Their record against AAAAA opponents is truely impressive. I seriously doubt that any other AA school is scheduling and wipping so many big schools. Go Breds!

NKY 6A is horrible this year. Henry Clay is way down and they just beat Boone Co. Still a nice job by the Breds..:thumb:

Campbell Co played their hearts out ,but NCC pulls it out in the End . NCC's final score was really meaningless . This was really a close game .

CC had control of the game, then they fumble, and it was all down hill from there.

NCC played well and Kelly had a heck of a game. After he got the penalty for clipping which was a horrible call he came out in the second half and single handily put a TD on the board. The Breds had 2 drive killing fumbles. The Campbell County QB kind of just threw the final interception up for grabs.

 

BTW #25 for the Camels is a heck of a football player.

I turn this game off with CC winning 21-14 with 4 minutes to play and they have the ball, I come back a half hour later and see the final of 34-21. NCC must have really kicked it up a notch. Tough loss for the Camels.

Are you talking about the blocking below the waist call ? On TV it appeared that he got him right in the breadbasket and was a good block . I think the refs saw him go to his knees and assumed the worst .

After the fumble, it looked like CC lost all of their hope

In the same breath, NewCath came out and scored in 2 plays to open the

2nd half. They stopped CC and then got the ball to midfield on 2 runs. Then they fumbled it, and it was downhill for them as well. The teams were tied in the TO department.

 

As a side note, NewCath has lost its intensity. This years team doesn't see very much into it as in years past. They turned it on and off tonight, and have been doing that most of the year. If they think that they can beat Holy Cross or De Sales again doing that, they won't make it out of the region. There's too much talent to not take pride in what they are doing.

What happened to Kiernan and Escalante? NewCath's D did alright missing their starting safety and big NT. Parr played a heck of a safety in his move from CB, but the CBs (and I know one hasn't played much corner this year) were looking back at the ball and losing their receiver.

Great job Breds. Great atmosphere! Great crowd! Breds keep the bragging rights again. Enquirer says the Breds have had the bragging rights since 2001. NCC has owned this series for years. Mark Kelly was superb again with 179 yards and 2 td's. Justin Jones was the unsung hero with some huge receptions on big 3rd and 4th downs. Great game defensively by Chris Kelly, Greg Willett and Ben Parr. I was very impressed with Campbell Co's backup quarterback Kramer. This is turning into one of the best rivalries in Nky. Just another day at the office for NewCath against Campbell. Good luck to the Breds next week against Beechwood and the remaining weeks of the playoffs.

Campbell kept looking like they were going to salt it away, but NewCath hung tough. 7-7 at half, and NewCath scored coming out of the locker room, but Campbell came back and took the lead late before things just went horribly wrong for them. I agree that this is becoming one of the great rivalry games in the area. So many of these kids know each other from Red Devils ball that it's like a family battle. Even in the crowd, it's the same thing. I ran into a guy from the old hood and talked so much that my throat hurts this morning. Count me in in the future unless Highlands has a REALLY interesting matchup on the same night. This one is too good to miss.

It was fun, sad, and hertbreaking to see these kids who were so tight over the last few years square off against each other.
