I wasn't talking about the grass itself, I guess next time I will be more specific. I was talking about the entire venue, although this is best the grass has looked on PC field in quite some time. They have built a very nice place to watch football - at least for our fans anyway. We have some work yet to do on the visitors side, but overall, it is worlds better than what it was. I am sure the Admin at PC will do what needs to be done. :thumb:

I heard a rumor over the summer tht Pulaski will be getting turf to go with their new stadium after this season. They have made a fine field down here and I ma looking for to more progress.

Pulaski County has more kids than ever before coming out to play. They usually dress between 45-50 kids in a given season, but this year the team had to order new jerseys as they are up to near 65 players( I think it's 64 to be exact).

:DI believe that Somerset was offered a home and home with PC for 09-10, now that PC is not in the Correll Bowl, but Somerset turned it down. They are not playing SW either, so I don't understand why they would turn it down if it is just one of the county schools? IMO I don't think Somerset minds playing the County schools as long as they are in control of the situation. Playing only one of the two schools in a season on the road is,evidently, not having control. BTW, playing schools that are bigger has unfortunately become a small part of PC schedule as well, seeing how they are the smallest school in 5a. Oh, woe is me!:D:D

I am saying this is a fantastic rivalry! That is why these games should be played every year. Everyone wins. The schools get a huge payday, & the fans get to see some great football from our local schools. We are very fortunate to have 3 very good football schools in our community. It's a shame we can't get past all the egos & excuses from all sides & play some football.

Chris triple jumped 43 feet and long jumped 23 feet. He competed in the State Meet in 4 events. He is a superb athlete and only a Junior.

Actually Buck, this will more than likely be the last year you see the County teams in the Ray Correll Bowl. With Somerset's refusal to play both teams in a given season, the county schools have not renewed the contract. It is a shame, w/ Somerset's deep tradition & the $$$ it would generate, the fans around here are going to miss out on 2 exciting games. With fuel prices the way they are & teams trying to not travel it seems like a slam dunk to play both schools the same year. 2 games without leaving town, & the biggest gate of the year when you get SW or PC @ home. Oh well, lets hope these games actually do take place in the future.

Pulaski's Winston Hines and their QB Chris Muse will be difficult to stop this year.

The obvious thing is to find a new coach. A coach that has a lot of patience. After losing 10 Seniors, the Jumpers will be young & inexperienced next year. If those young, talented players can grow together as a team quickly, Somerset can win some games. It will most definitely be a rebuilding year for the Purple & Gold.

Male's Green won the 100, 200, and 400m. This is a extraordinary feat. Congrats to him and all the athletes who compteted this weekend.

According to the article in the CJ, Wilson Sears had not yet received a letter of resignation from Thacker. As soon as that letter is received SHS can move forward on the search. I'm sure Somerset has their sites set on a few good candidates.

A major name is being rumored around. Not gonna mention the school but it rhymes with Mayne County. That's 2 schools in Pulaski County this coach's name has been linked to this spring. It's going to be a fun summer watching this situation develop.

Rowan County is getting one fine coach in Coach Thacker! He is a class act.

There is a lot of very good, young talent at Somerset. Whoever gets the job will have a nice group to work with. Just gonna take some time.

So would it be a big deal if the 15 year old was a hold back? You have several 9th graders out there actually younger than hold back 8th graders. If an 8th grader is talented enough to play up on the varsity level let them play. Injuries happen to big strong senior players & young freshmen players alike. If a coaching staff is taking care of players it should not be a big deal for an 8th grader to play up.

You can say the same thing for a frosh. or soph. kid who hasn't developed yet. The thing is not all kids grow at the same rate. Sometimes you have a kid who is 14 or 15 who is much bigger & stronger than a 16-17 year old. If a coach sees that an 8th grader is ready to play on the varsity level let them. Again, a majority of high school coaching staffs are more experienced at bringing along those young kids. And if you think kids aren't breaking off curve balls in Little League, Cal Ripken, & middle school games (at MUCH younger ages than 13-14), you don't get out very much. If presented w/ the opportunity I would much rather have my child be coached by the varsity coaching staff, where they can monitor progress much better than a middle school coach.

Absolutely no different than a 13 or 14 year old playing Babe Ruth; same distance from the plate to the mound! A kid can blow his arm out just as easily in a middle school game. Actually, that kid pitching in high school may be better off as he will have proper coaching at the high school level. So the "pressure" a kid has in high school is not as bad as one might think.

Several girls play up on basketball, volleyball, softball, cross country, & track & field teams in schools all over the state. Should they not be allowed to do so? Pulaski County has an 8th grade pitcher who pitched a perfect game already this year in a varsity softball game! Would you rather see here pitching to younger girls in middle school wasting her talents or being tested with the players on her level of ability? The bottom line is this: if the KHSAA says these kids can play up why the big deal? If the kid is keeping up grades, staying out of trouble, & fitting in w/ the team, let them play. Let's not hold back the advancement of a gifted young athlete just so little Johnny or Jane don't feel bad that a younger player is better than they are.

No matter who is coaching Pulaski Cable was never going, or ever will be at Southwestern! So lets kill that rumor right now. Not only is she a very good player, she is a super person & has a great family. I do hope PC gets a coach that will get the elementary & middle school programs back on track. The middle school program has been in shambles for years & needs fixed RIGHT NOW!! PC has some potential with the younger kids, if they get in the gym & work. It's going to be a rough year next year but this team will get better.

That is not entirely a true statement, especially with the district SW is in. Besides Lincoln & Pulaski, the teams in that district beat up on each other. With the way the district shapes up this year you are going to have a pretty good football team not make the playoffs just because of the tough district. Put any of those 3 teams (Mercer, South Laurel, SW) in another mountain district & they would probably compete for at least the #2, if not the #1 spot. Mercer is probably the favorite to win THIS district in '08. Granted, SW was not very good last year, but w/ the returning players & young ones coming in they will be much improved. Dale Anderson will find a way to make his team competitive on Friday nights. In this district, you are not "down right terrible" if you don't make the playoffs.

I was very impressed with the TEAM play of Lincoln last night & for the entire tournament. Ryan Young has my vote for 12th Region Player of the Year(not that I have one, but if I did...). That kid was simply amazing this year. The student section for Lincoln was on fire all night! I absolutely loved the throwback unis they were wearing, although some of the guys need not EVER be seen in such apparel again! On a side note, some fans in the West student section tried to ruin a great game & tournament by throwing bottles on the court after the final horn sounded. The kids who did that are a complete embarrassment to West Jessamine & the 12th Region tournament. I hope they were caught & taken care of appropriately. Again, congratulations to Lincoln County on a great season & 12th Region Championship! Good Luck @ Rupp!
