From the Carmel scoreboard: T 262 pass 150 run = 412. C 210 pass 31 run = 241. Uneven game ,but they will get there. I believe it is Lawrence Central next week. They beat North Central tonight. Both big Marion County (Indy) schools.

Most Indiana schools belong to a conference. That leaves them only one or two games to schedule independently . BTW, the schools themselves determine the conference, not the IHSAA. Indianapolis Cathedral does not belong to a conference, so play lots of out of state games within the travel limits. I don't remember the mileage, but there is no overnight stays allowed.

Carmel believes they will win every time they step on the field in every sport. They are high achievers scholastically and athletically. Coach Wright brought Coach Coverdale to Trinity. They remain great friends. Coach Wright was a position coach on Coach Beatty's All-American East team in January. They know and respect each other. The game will be well coached and hard fought.

In Indiana, the schools themselves decide who to play, and whether or not to join a conference for regular season. There are conference championships in all sports and some conferences have several powerhouse teams to play and that means lots to the teams who decide to go that route. The IHSAA runs the tournaments and decides the route to the state championships through a blind draw. That does mean some powerhouse teams , because of geography, play each other early in the tournament. Good or bad, you can only lose once and you can only win once. You have to play each other at some point.

Carmel, IN, Second largest school in Indiana, coached by Kevin Wright, prior Trinity coach. The sports tradition of winning in all sports fields, girls and boys. State champs in football last in 2011. Much better than Lawrence Central in football tradition.

We have had a great week. The ArmyStrong zone was really interesting. Spent almost 4 hours there on Friday. Lots of things for the kids to try out. It has been very cold and damp. That's my only complaint. The game was fun, but man, do I hate TV timeouts. No flow to the game the first half at all. J Q and Hatcher both did Kentucky proud. So did the coaches.

My husband, Daughter, Son in law and children and I will all leave Dallas today to head to San Antonio for sight seeing and the game. Bob Beaty is head coach of the East, James Quick and Jason Hatcher are on the team and my son is one of the coaches. My freshman grandson is looking forward to autograghs and watching the combine. The Game is Sat , Jan 5th at noon in the Alomodome.

Although this team wasn't as dominate as last years team, they always found a way to win (except CinnMoeller). In that, they were fun and exciting to watch. I enjoyed the team and the season. Travis was never rattled. James, spectacular running 90 yards to get 20. Dalyn finding a hole where there was none. And my favorites, Jabari, Ryan, Bertram and of course, LT. I didn't name the whole team , but to each member, Congratulations.

Congratulations to X. They came out very high and ready to play the game. Rocks started slower and wereshocked some by X' aggresive play, penalties, Quick' injury, but regrouped and took back control. All of the injuries were football plays and nothing else. X cheered the Penalty on Quick's injury. Ok. I am saddened he won't be playing again this season. Ribs are serious. I love the excitement he brings to the game. Superb play by Bertram, especially 1st half when it seemed he was everywhere, and Swiebeck (sp.?) , who along with catching that pass did a good job punting.

Yes, the first sectional game is the 10th game of the season. Yes, everyone gets in. We have a lot of conferences in IN. A team plays 6 to 7 conference games and fills their schedule with other teams. Some of the conferences are tougher than the tourney because they are so equal. Cathedral (not in aconference) schedules up in class regular season and then wins state after several losses some years (probably this). Our largest class domination is public, not private. Next year we begin having a qualifier to move up a class if you win to much and a super class with some of the really big schools. I have no idea what will happen with that. I believe the rule now is you can travel to contiguous states, but not stay overnight. We have the advantage of traveling easy in Indiana with all the Interstates and a small state. I like our system for us.

I thought Male looked well coached, also. We really do want better competition, so it is good for us when opponents are on an upswing. Who could not want to have the games we used to play with Male.
